Thinking about trading my 2018 SL for a 2022 SL+, in Canada

I got the 2022 :D Thanks for your advice everyone.

I can use something else instead of nissan connect?

Ovms does not support 2018+ models. Although it looks promising https://github.com/openvehicles/Open-Vehicle-Monitoring-System-3/issues/323

Any interest for a VSP-delete module?

If that's of any interest, I'm soon going to own both a 2018 and a 2022 for a while. I could do some tests that are not too involving or time consuming. The 2022 is annoyingly noisier than the 2018, and it'd be nice to at least make it quieter. Putting sound dampening mats on the speakers seems...

Onboard charger upgrade to 3 phase

    So, this? https://www.power-sonic.com/product/evdc-60na/

Onboard charger upgrade to 3 phase

Hmmm, wouldn't that just be building a big heavy DC fast charging station into the car? And always carrying it?

When does turtle mode appear and how much farther can you go when it does?

I recently did a three cycle deep discharge on my 2018 40kwh and turtle mode appeared at three different points. Once it appeared with some % left while driving, and once it appeared right before the car shut off while parked. I think it depends on how hard your driving. The harder, the sooner...

Thinking about trading my 2018 SL for a 2022 SL+, in Canada

867 L1/L2 charges though, that's about 50km average between charges, and more charges than there are days in the car's life. Most probably the car was always on charge, so at near 100%, right? I know that should be avoided. Should I be worried?

Thinking about trading my 2018 SL for a 2022 SL+, in Canada

Well, the dealer sold the car to someone else. I took too much time. But the dealer just got another one for the same price, and honestly I think this one I should just get right now. It has one, ONE quick charge 😱

    Should I buy a 73k mile 2018 SL?

Not sure if the Bolt has an equivalent app to leaf spy? Or an equivalent community? 😉

    Should I buy a 73k mile 2018 SL?

When not under load, all the battery cells are normally within a couple of mv from each other. You should see a pretty flat battery graph, and leaf spy also tells the difference between the cell with mininmum voltage and the cell with maximum voltage. That diff should be in the tens of mv. Less...

    Should I buy a 73k mile 2018 SL?

Mine would suddenly loose up to 10% in less than 10s when driving casually up a hill in cold weather, then gradually recover that sudden loss once atop the hill. It's fine in warm-ish weather though. It's been 10c all day today and I've done about 150 km with still 25% left. I drive a...

    Should I buy a 73k mile 2018 SL?

@gozer never thought about heated vest. Not sure it is worth it though. From the full battery cycles I've had to do recently, I've seen that the heating system pulls at most 5kw when it's on full power so if you preheat the car while it's pulling power from an evse before leaving (using timers...

    Should I buy a 73k mile 2018 SL?

One sure thing, don't rely on dcfc everyday in winter. That is going to wear the battery pretty quick and in very cold weather the car limits power to limit damage to the battery (lithium plating ) and it can be very slow. I've seen as low as 11kw. If you can get a l2 charger at work, it would...

Remote climate control on 2020 SL Plus

Nissan Connect is the only app I'm aware of that will let you use Nissan's services without a subscription. You'll have access to limited functions including limited AC control and charge status. If you got the car used, you need to register the car as your own at Nissan first. Other apps like...

Battery percentage drops erratically on acceleration

They replace the battery pack. But only once they replicate the problem, record it with their tools, and get an acknowledgement from Nissan that the battery is indeed faulty. I mean, I'll soon be on my 3rd battery pack in 10 months on my 2018. I know the drill ;) Your problem could very well be...

Thinking about trading my 2018 SL for a 2022 SL+, in Canada

I do too. I think the extra range would make it easier as apart from my commute to work, pretty much all trips I do require I start at 100% charge to avoid quick charge. Again, I'm always planning ahead, trying to charge the last 20% just before taking off. I should've known the actual range...

Thinking about trading my 2018 SL for a 2022 SL+, in Canada

Yeah. I've had bad battery packs since the beginning, I have to plan every single trip according to weather and forecast in addition to distance. Quite exhausting. A little break would be nice indeed! 😉

Battery percentage drops erratically on acceleration

How old is your replacement battery? In any case, you'll have to bring your car to a dealer and have them diagnose your problem. If they replicate the behavior, it should be covered by the warranty. Of course, do this before your battery warranty runs out 😉

    Is NissanConnect EV down?

Classic.. Apparently there's good progress on ovms recently https://github.com/openvehicles/Open-Vehicle-Monitoring-System-3/issues/323

Thinking about trading my 2018 SL for a 2022 SL+, in Canada

LOL XD Well you've had yours since new. I've got mine used. 1st battery I have no idea what the previous owner(s) did to it. I've taken pretty good care of it for the few warm months I've had it, and then the cold winter came and the battery went "nope!". Second one was clearly a manufacturing...
