12V battery died, SOH and SOC messed up after replacing 12V

Can one buy a 51 instead of a 51R? It's my understanding that the only difference is that the terminal positions are reversed. Are the Leaf's cables long enough?

    Considering a 2015 Leaf S

Agreed. I have one with 35K and 9 bars (83% SOH) that I bought earlier this year. Level 1 charging is more than sufficient, and I've even switched to using an aftermarket charger at only 8A for increased safety on a 15A circuit. The key is also having an ICE vehicle; that helps to retain...

Are there any benefits to fully cycling the battery periodically (full to turtle)?

Do you think one could get the same effect by running the heaters to discharge the battery?

    110v Appliance Buddy or similar?

Thanks. I had no idea that the battery backups were so affordable. I like that because I wouldn't be sinking more $ into the Leaf, which is unlikely to be permanent. No, it's a condo built that way in 1979. At least I had the dangerous Federal Pacific breaker panel replaced! I'm not sure...

    110v Appliance Buddy or similar?

Thanks, Mike. I will check into all of these things. For the breaker, just swap it out in my panel, or get an AFCI outlet?

    110v Appliance Buddy or similar?

Thanks for the helpful replies. So if (big if) I use any smart outlet, I should if at all possible do it before plugging, or after unplugging, the EVSE into the car? More as a backup? Good to know. My aim with the Appliance Buddy was to only use it as a backstop. I would think that it...

    110v Appliance Buddy or similar?

For many reasons, I am limited to 110v L1 charging in my detached garage for my 2015 Leaf S. The only circuit is a 16A that also has to run the garage door opener. Simplicity is important. Has anyone used this, from VegasBrad (he also does Dryer Buddy)...

Replacing NissanConnectEV with OVMS in a Gen1 Leaf

Got it. Dala@Dala's EV Repair claims to have done so in the middle of this Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/leaf/comments/e9sawr/just_installed_ovms_into_my_15_leaf_loving_it/ But that's the only one I have found.

Replacing NissanConnectEV with OVMS in a Gen1 Leaf

I'm back to being puzzled. The Leaf page at openvehicles.com simply says: "OVMS currently supports 2011-2017 Nissan LEAF..." The only mentions I see for S trim are the benefits of having no TCU to disconnect. Am I missing something?

Replacing NissanConnectEV with OVMS in a Gen1 Leaf

Just trying to make sure that I understand...I would be fine without the modem and SIM. I have a 2015 S that should be in easy WiFi range at home, so I would need only: 1) The Japanese base kit ($180) and 2) Leaf cable ($12), correct? And I wouldn't need any connection to any antenna if I...

    2018 LEAF Horn Upgrade DIY

I have a 2015, which seems emptier and simpler. Do I understand correctly that tapping into that positive is all I'd need to do to support an installation in the engine bay? This sounds great, but your Amazon link didn't work. Did you use the wi-fi programmable one...

    TPMS accuracy question

Thanks. As a retired scientist, I come across this phenomenon very often. Few laypeople seem to be aware of it. I figured that this forum has the hardest of the hardcore Leafers and I'd get good replies. 8-)

    TPMS accuracy question

Hi all, I just bought a 2015 Leaf and have LeafSpy set up and working. Which is the most accurate way to measure tire pressure? 1) LeafSpy, 2) the Leaf's horn, 3) a basic handheld gauge, or 4) a typical automatic gas station air pump on which one can set the final pressure?
