Leaf Price / Discount discussion thread

This is what they offered. They have to truck the car in because they don't have one nearby, and it would still not have a color combo I could live with. Base SV 24-month lease Price including Dealer Installed Accessories - $33,891 Manufacturer to Customer Rebate $9,800 Total $24,091.00 MF...

Leaf Price / Discount discussion thread

I just asked a local dealer for a quote on a 2016 SV lease. I plunked down the 1k for the Model 3 before the reveal, but I only have one car in my household right now and I need another. I've also been wanting an EV for over 5 years, so there's no way that 2nd car is not electric. I've also...

Someone on the TMC forum found an updated VIN decoding document for the S that shows a dual motor option.

2015 Lizard Leaf - No option to set charge to 80%

Is there any real evidence the 2015's are Lizard Leafs in the first place?

    Official Mercedes B-class EV thread

I tend to dismiss everything Consumer Reports has to say. Some of the worst products I've owned were based on their recommendations. I just thought their lackluster first impression of this car was interesting. I would like it to do well. On the other hand, the market for short-range luxury...

    They haven't done their full evaluation, but they had this: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/09/mercedes-benz-b-class-electric-drive-brings-luxe-and-limitations/index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

    Official Mercedes B-class EV thread

I thought it was interesting that Consumer Reports disliked it so much. It will be interesting to see how this one does in the market, especially once it gets a nationwide rollout.

    Official BMW i3 thread

I filled out the extended test drive form. It asks if you prefer contact via email or phone; I selected email. About an hour later I got a phone call from an unenthusiastic car salesman. I didn't talk to him because his timing was bad, and I won't be calling back. I didn't get an email, but I...

    The plugin spectrum of "coolness"

That's pretty subjective. I'd put the i8 a few slots lower, and the ELR below the LEAF. The ELR is the ultimate old man dorkmobile.

Amen. At least Tesla has grasped that.

I think the extra $7500 balloon is perfectly fine. If you can't plan to have that money around, then pay the balloon early as an "extra prinicipal payment" after you get your tax refund that includes the $7500 credit. I guess you won't get the tax advantages of leasing if you choose the balloon...

Giving up on being an ICE free household

I have a feeling my family could go ICE-less with a RAV4 EV or Model S. I don't mind renting a car for road trips; I frequently do that anyway. As long as I can get to Galveston and back 3-4 times a year, I'm good. I can't do that with an 80 mile EV. (I'm about 60 miles door to door and it's...

MY2014 no more 80% charge option?

    Nope, not for 2014

MY2014 no more 80% charge option?

I really doubt they would remove the 80% charge capability from MY11-13 cars. What would be the motivation for that? I think that part of the software is unlikely to be updated in any case. It's just another reason to lease if you want a new Leaf.

feeling like giving up on electric

Tesla's #1 mission is to address that! (By making cheaper cars, not by persuading you to buy an 80k car)

MY2014 no more 80% charge option?

I would hope they would not deliver cars with no 80% charge option unless they fix their battery issues first (hot battery)... How inconvenient to have to play with charge timers if you want to baby your battery.
