Nissan Connect on 2016 leaf import to Canada from the US

Nope, Nissan has been useless to the point that I will never buy another one of their cars new or used.

    charging with portable generator

No a generator like that with a floating neutral won't work no matter what the amps. You need a generator with a bonded neural-ground. Funny you say that, I was thinking about that last night. My Yamaha 2400i won't run my water heater in the house during a power outage unless I bond it. I...

    not charging...(LEAF 2014)

I've had a similar issue with the OEM Level 1 EVSE. After some trouble shooting it was found that it was a flakie ground/earth connection at the plug. The car was having none of that until I rewired the outlet.

JDM ASTAR LED Headlight bulb review.

Loathing the pathetic OEM bulbs in my 2016 SV I'm on a quest to find a better option. Having read a number of reviews on H13 LED options and looking at my empty wallet I decided to try JDM ASTAR G4 H13 8000LM LED Headlight bulbs that I ordered on eBay $22 all in. Having other vehicles with...

    Weather reduction on range

Your 5th wheel most likely connect to a Nema 14-50 plug. Depending where your trailer is setup (campground, friends field, etc.) do you have access to 220-240V? If you do have a decent supply, I would buy a dumb level 2 charger like a Duosida or similar. When you get home unplug the trailer...

Nissan Connect on 2016 leaf import to Canada from the US

Well, I went to Washington. I was able to successfully get the car connected. Had to try 3 times but on the third try it connected and updated a bunch of stuff. I was very disappointed that after returning to Canada, the connection dropped and it doesn't work. Not sure what to try next.

    PG&E Shutting off power.

Reading the news this morning I see PG&E is shutting off power to 500,000 people and it could be up to 800,000 by the end of the day. This is being done to mitigate risk of wild fire. My thought is WTF do you do if there is a fire or a medical emergency and you have to get out of there and all...

Nissan Connect on 2016 leaf import to Canada from the US

I have a similar experience with my 2016. I called Nissan yesterday and the lady was very helpful. We setup a US account, everything works except getting the car to connect (like everyone else's experience above). What the lady from Nissan said is I have to be in the USA to get the original...

How do you charge/store your phone in your leaf?

For a phone mount I use a Ram Mount X-Grip, I've moved to using these in all my toys that move, only phone mount I've found that isn't garbage. For mounting I cut a lexan disk that get glued to the dash with clear silicon (this comes off with fishing line, and the residue can be removed by...

    Rims with 56 offset

The majority of rims are designed to be hub centric, i.e. rely on the center bore to center the rim on the hub. hub-centric rims have a lug seats that are rounded or "ball" (heavy trucks are hub centric and have flat lug nut seats). Cheap aftermarket rims are often lug centric as they can have...

    Rims with 56 offset

The OP might be. The following explains offset: Where as center bore is the diameter of the center hole. Too small it it simply won't fit, too large and you will have to run a center spacer which will cause you to drive yourself nuts trying to get rid of a vibration at some specific speed...

    Rims with 56 offset

Nope, unless they are aluminum rims and you have the center bore machined out. But most likely that would cost more than finding rims that are a correct fit.

    Charging at an airport.

I have trip coming up and got to thinking what is the charging protocol when parked at an airport (being an owner for 1 month)? At Vancouver (YVR) long term parking there are 10 Charge Point stalls at the long term parking. I'm going to be away for 4 days. When I arrive at the airport I will be...

    Condensation on windows/windshield

In the Pacific Northwest where I am, fogged up windows is a way of life unless you do something about it. I have a portable dehumidifier that gets cycled though our vehicles on a regular basis. I sucks the excess moisture out of the mats, carpets etc. with out it we would have to wait until...

Duosida 32A doesn't play nice with charging timer.

Well after trying to contact Duosida and getting nowhere, I returned the EVSE to Amazon (simple process) and purchased a JuiceBox Pro 40. I have to say after using the JuiceBox for a week, I am positive I made the right decision. Everything works as it should and the smart functions are very...

Michelin Energy Saver 90V verses 91H

After all that I was given the wrong information, the tires were 90V's. I got them for a very good price and I'm good to go.

    SOH increasing?

Well the SOH number has now dropped two days in a row by around the same amount as previous increases per day. My early hypothesis is SOH value is accurate to around +/- 0.5% and when I first measured it was at the low end. Long term graphing should give a better picture.

    TireRack Troubles

I have looked at buying tires at Tire Rack many times. Every time I have found better prices elsewhere.

    SOH increasing?

I'll keep monitoring and see where the trend leads.

    SOH increasing?

So I’m 2 weeks into ownership. I bought a 2016 SV with 21,000 miles on it but the battery has had a rough life. The car is a lease return from Hawaii so it had its fair share of heat. The SOH of the battery was 74% when I bought it. I never would have bought it but the price was such that I...
