    Official Tesla Model Y Thread

Agreed, even the Long Range with its higher price is hard to beat. We ended up with an ID4 last December, and at that time it was a decent value. But after that Tesla prices crashed... and no matter how much I dislike Elon, or the overly sparse controls inside Tesla's - there can be no real...

Update on CEC DCFC Stations in Tehachapi, Mojave, and Inyokern, Calfornia

Indeed! I charged yesterday on EA in Coso Junction and we hit about 130 kW. Not the 175 kW that it can (in theory?) do, but still, 20% to 60% in 18 minutes, and it was about 44f outside. Battery was around 55f at the start. I have been using CarScanner and it seems to give good data for the...

Update on CEC DCFC Stations in Tehachapi, Mojave, and Inyokern, Calfornia

Actually, no, that wasn't me. I was just referring to someone else's comment. We did go up to Lone Pine today and the EA charger in Coso worked first try. The caltrans charger there is still offline Somewhere, I heard a rumor EA plans to build a station in Lone Pine. That would be great...

Each to their own, but my wife and I have both been in past Tesla's, and my brother has two, and the ID4 build quality is better. Much better. Yes, of course some materials are lower end, but it cost me $20k less! My wife actually really likes it. She didn't think she would. And that's...

Got the new ID4. Dark blue exterior, cosmic exterior. So far it's been good. Yes the center console will take some getting used to, and I do miss real buttons. But it has wireless android auto, so I won't be using most of the entertainment system anyway. It's great to drive! Range is...

Update on CEC DCFC Stations in Tehachapi, Mojave, and Inyokern, Calfornia

It looks like someone tested the charger in Trona! No photos though. Looks like they pulled 48kW in a vehicle listed as "other". It's also flagged as "Customers Only" - not sure what that means? I'll try and get down there next few weeks. Now that I'll be able to test it. It's sad to...

    Volkswagen ID.4 CUV

So earlier this week I mentioned that there is a delay in the battery REQs, meaning most EVs will qualify until March. This AM VW sent out a notice. Two major news items: A $1500 price increase starts Jan 4th. And VW will use both SK and LG packs for all new 2023 RWD ID4s. Starting now...

Update on CEC DCFC Stations in Tehachapi, Mojave, and Inyokern, Calfornia

I'm back! ! Ok well I will be. Just signed the contract online for a 2023 ID4. Pick it up in Palmdale Friday. It was quite the mess really but I got it done. I'll post more in the ID4 thread but it's been a crazy week with the new Treasury guidance and now new VW news.

Well, Santa came early - based on posts over in the ID4 forum, the treasury has delayed the battery mineral REQs for EVs until March, meaning most EVS will get the full 7500 for at least Jan and Feb next year. Still have to be assembled in N America, new income REQs and such still matter, just...

    Government subsidies/perks/mandates for EVs

So its all over the ID4 forums where I've been hanging out, but the news yesterday is that the IRS / Treasury delayed the battery mineral guidance to at least March - meaning all the rules kick in Jan 1st - and Chevy Bolt, for example, will qualify, but the mineral REQs will not be in place...

Update on CEC DCFC Stations in Tehachapi, Mojave, and Inyokern, Calfornia

I've got a glimmer of hope. Many ID4s have just popped up around our area. They are all reserved but I've got hope one gets passed over, and then the dealer doesn't try to mark it up. I'm just waiting for that call.

Honestly, I haven't given the machE too much consideration. I don't personally like it, and although I do like my F150 - I hate my local ford dealer. Not that they ever have a MachE anyway. I haven't seen a machE in my price range in a long time, they are usually 50-65k and have dealer...

That would have worked when they had the tax credit, but now its too late. Without the tax credit they are out of my price range. Korean assembled vehicles no longer qualify with the new schema.

Sorry haven't been hanging around much now without my Leaf. I did post an update in the CEC CA thread - I just saw a "coming soon" pop up in Trona, of all places! Lone pine would be awesome EA addition, maybe we can even get 6 stalls? Per my other post, I'm still waiting on my 2023 ID4 RWD...

Update on CEC DCFC Stations in Tehachapi, Mojave, and Inyokern, Calfornia

Hey Paul Sorry haven't been checking in very often here since I don't have my Leaf. Should have long ago had my RWD ID4 but that's a long story. Still don't have it and now I'm hearing June of next year. Which likely means no or only half tax credit. I may check out the Equinox or Blazer at...

    Volkswagen ID.4 CUV

Well I've got my local air district rebate voucher in my hands, now i just have to actually find an EV. Who would have thought finding something would be so hard? The voucher expires in 6 months too, giving me little time to find something that also qualifies for the FED tax credit...

    Volkswagen ID.4 CUV

Someone posted this link over in VW ID Talk forums. It has a lot of detail, and worth a read, if you can get through it. A couple excerpts, out of order though: It makes me wonder if the Gov could basically circumvent its rules on battery component origin by simply NOT releasing guidance...

Thanks! Here is the important bit from Edmunds: "And that figure could potentially get even better in the next few weeks. With the new government requirements for EV tax credits, the ID.4 is currently under consideration for a $7,500 tax credit. The details are complicated, but VW is waiting...

    Volkswagen ID.4 CUV

I have given the lightening some thought, but the only ones I can find are standard range, and at 70k plus dealer markup. That's not in the realm of realistic for me. The standard range couldn't do what I want anyway, even the extended range would be difficult when towing out here is Eastern...

    Volkswagen ID.4 CUV

Yeah I've seen a lot of those posts about S/W issues. In theory the 2023s will come out with 3.2 or whatever the new software is. In theory. Oh, but I may not get an ID4 anyway. After I posted yesterday, I saw folks in the ID4 (VWIDTalk) forums saying they just saw their orders bumped back...
