Better, Diesel-Fired Liquid Heater for 2011-2012 Leaf

Im hoping to get mux's range extender. So i will be forced to remove the heater from the boot. Placing the heater in the engine bay would still save me about 2-3kw per hour of driving saving me precious range. Allso since i allready have the heater, heating the car with diesel is actually...

Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

Keep in mind i have the 2kw version not the 5kw. The 5kw will use more. I also calculated it is actually cheaper to heat the car with diesel thsn with electricity. I use about 1kwh per 40km. So per 300km ~7.5 kwh. 7.5kwh at 23 eurocent cost me 1.7 euro A liter of diesel is about 1.30 euro.

Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

Sooooo i used about 1 liter per 300km. Aka 1 gallon for 700 miles. And used during freezing temps and including preheat (by the diesel heater) Quite satisfied. As i dont have to fill it on a regular basis

Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

I wonder if your propane heater is cost efficient. My diesel heater set me back 140 euros or 160 usd. A broken ptc heater could set you pack a couple of thousands! There are liquid diesel heaters, they are to be set up in line with the normal water circuit. If you're looking for a more discrete...

Better, Diesel-Fired Liquid Heater for 2011-2012 Leaf

Yeah i didnt find any chinese knock offs. And a genuine liquid heater would set me back 1000-1200 euro's. The air heater takes some space, but i can use my trunk for my standard luggage(stroller and what not). I have now filled my tank (2.5 litres) and reset the time and distance traveled so...

Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

If i would to put an extension hose to the foot area, that would have to go over the backseat and i want the car to be looking nice. Perhaps a small 4v fan mounted on the ceiling of the car to blow the hot air downwards. I really dont care if people say my car is electric or it uses diesel. I...

Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

Little update. Been using it for over a week now. Guesstimated 500-600km travelled and used less than 1 litre of diesel. I plan on using the car as i always do. Reset the trip counter and check how many hours and km's travelled untill my 2.5 litre tank is depleted. Usage: I start the heater...

Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

Im in the netherlands. Used for home to work. 80km trip with only a 10 bar gen1. Get 16.7 kwh on 100%. Usually make it home in the summer with 3kw left. In winter i use 10min dcqc Recommended is to always use outside air for combustion inlet. Due to the fact of a misfire CO buildup can be...

Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

I routed everything outside. No fumes going in Removing it would take me about 1hr as i have to get below the car. But the space taken isnt that big so ill see if i need the space. It is about 32cmx12x12cm. I have a CO detector in the car so an alarm will sound if it picks up anything. Today...
