    Freewire charging stations

Startups are hard, sorry to hear of their trouble. It seems like when (or if) solid state batteries hit the market something like this will be needed to manage the high charge rates touted for solid state batteries.

    Repeated ground faults from evse

I've heard that some EVSE's have built in GFI protection and actually test it every time they are engaged. If so, that could easily trip a GFCI circuit as well. That said, current NEC requires GFCI protection on any outlets in a garage. I don't know if there is an exception for EVSE's or...

How does phone communicate with charging station?

It probably varies but at least some (and probably most/all) use cell technology. That's just based on personal experience and not any inside knowledge.

    Repeated ground faults from evse

Unfortunately, the OEM supplied 120/240V EVSE that comes with some later model Leaf's does NOT support 208V. For some reason, the EVSE will shut down charging when plugged into 208V. The on-board charger will still work so if you need to charge at 208V you will need to use a non-OEM EVSE.

The Definitive "CLICKING NOISE FROM FRONT OR REAR AXLE DURING TAKE-OFF/ACCELERATION" list

Isn't this a problem that the dealer is supposed to fix for free due to some recall or something? I can certainly do the work myself but if I'd rather have the dealer do it if possible. My has been clicking since new but seems to be getting just a little worse after 6 years and 35k miles.

2017 Leaf battery and Vehicle History Report question

The best way to know is to check the Leaf with LeafSpyPro. The procedure is here: (it's for a 2018 but it's the same for a 2017). Otherwise, you might be able to tell if you have the VIN and ask Nissan directly but I don't know if they would release that information if you didn't already...

    30kWh minimum cell voltage

It was in turtle mode for a while before it quit. I can't remember how far it went in turtle mode but I'm sure someone here has posted that info in the forum.

Amperage to charge for Level 2

Also, don't think there is a designated NEMA 40A plug so once you're over 30A it's either a hard-wired connection or a 50A plug. There is even an exception that you can use a 50A plug on a 40A circuit but I wouldn't recommend that, although a 27A load from a dedicated EVSE would be one obvious...

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

Are you sure? I always heard it was from the date the car was put in service, meaning the day it was sold and driven off the lot.

    Battery life question

There are various OBD2 dongles out there but you can get a decent one for $20. The last time I checked LeafSpyPro was $10 but you can check your app store to find out. It's pretty easy to use and I'm sure there are some YouTube videos about it but I've never looked.

    Monster Leaf

Whenever I see something like the Prius I assume it is just a different chassis that someone put a new body onto. For the Leaf, you could maybe cut away all the offending sheet metal of the body (UNI-body.... that is) and try to mount the wheels. Or just take the motor, battery and required...

    Can I change the 3.3kw charger to a 6.6?

Dala has done the swap but he added Chademo at the same time. I would guess if you could find a 6.6kW charger without Chademo it would be easier.

Smart splitter to share EVSE with another load

    Japanese EV market

That will interesting to watch since it could be a microcosm of the global market dynamics. Like the song says 'if they can make it there, they can make it anywhere'

2023 tax credit - what if dealership doesn’t turn in paperwork to IRS

It's easy for me to say.....but I'd claim the $4k on my taxes and keep the bill of sale, etc handy in case it is challenged by the IRS. It shouldn't be your problem that the dealer didn't file the form and unless someone else has already claimed the $4k on that car there shouldn't be any...

Has any one try this Grizzl-E Level 2 240V / 40A Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger ?

It may seem odd, but to me calling neutral a 'grounded conductor' makes perfect sense. As you mentioned, 'ground' and 'neutral' are tied together in the service entrance (but no where else....). I once failed an inspection for tying them together in a sub-panel in a detached garage so that...

Has any one try this Grizzl-E Level 2 240V / 40A Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger ?

There is certainly a difference between a neutral (white or grey wire in the US) and a ground (green or bare wire in the US). And the difference is.....the neutral is a 'grounded conductor' meaning it is intended to carry current when the circuit is energized. It is a conductor and it is...

Is the CCS to CHADEMO adapter legitimate?

Dala is a well-known and respected member of the international EV community. I have no direct knowledge of that adapter but I'd believe anything that Dala says in the YouTube video and IIRC, he thought it worked. When it will be available for sale, at what price and what after-sales support...

Part Wanted Need the Little charger adaptor for 240-120 volt charger

Where do you live? The US-supplied OEM EVSE's I've seen use a different plug.
