no heating: (Blower runs but only cold air) (2012)

Interesting. My local dealer gave me an estimate for $6500 to replace the PTC hearer and DC to DC converter in my 2012 Leaf. I declined the repair.

Battery worth more than the car

I don't think you could get a 24KWH battery back up for the current value of the Leaf battery. 8 - 11 KWH units seem to run around $9K and have half the capacity. Leaf battery's are about $4500 on Ebay. And this battery pack is in pretty good shape.

Battery worth more than the car

I appreciate the information. But I do not have the technical skills to build a set up like his without someone programming the electronics and matching wires for me. I was hoping someone saw a market and designed something more plug and play.

Battery worth more than the car

I have a 2013 Leaf with 86k miles and many issues. Pealing paint, bad air bag sensor, clock can not be set to local time, heater does not work, etc. But the battery was replaced in 2018 and still has 10 bars!. I have been thinking of pulling the battery and using the cells for backup for my...

Warning: Battery Replacement Cost Increase (now $8500)

I just had my battery replaced in my 2012 Leaf. The original quote was $7,700 and I agreed to go ahead with the replacement. Then the dealer called me back and said that they had learned that an "adapter" would be required and the price would be $8,800. They had already received the new...

Warning: Battery Replacement Cost Increase (now $8500)

But why would anyone buy a new Leaf knowing that Nissan will not support them in 6 years when the battery is weak. Gouging early adopters and therefore pissing them off does not build product loyalty. Tesla's may be expensive, but they will fix any problem without question in the first 8...

Warning: Battery Replacement Cost Increase (now $8500)

I purchased a replacement battery in August. My cost was $8,200 out the door. But that is because the dealer made a mistake when ordering the battery. I am told the normal cost is around $8,500 to $8,800. Financing has been a real problem for me. I took my local dealer 2 months to get...

Warning: Battery Replacement Cost Increase (now $8500)

Yes. Buying a new car is more expensive than replacing the battery, but I can understand the frustration that would lead you to do that. (My biggest complaint is not the cost. (Although I believe that it is unreasonable) But rather that Nissan made such a big deal about the $5500 battery...

Warning: Battery Replacement Cost Increase (now $8500)

The Nissan dealer did call me back and agree to install the battery at my price of $8200. I do not blame the dealer for the problem. It is Nissan that has quietly increased the battery price and yet allowed buyers to still believe they could buy a use Leaf and replace the battery at $5500 plus...

Warning: Battery Replacement Cost Increase (now $8500)

After 6 weeks of going back and forth with several local Nissan dealers on how to replace the battery in my Leaf they came up with a price of just over $7700. Most quoted around $8500. We ordered the battery and it arrived just a week later. Then I got the call. They did not know that an...

Warning: Battery Replacement Cost Increase (now $8500)

Strange, I was just quoted $7500 less a $1000 core deposit on my 24KWH battery pack. And there are several different prices quoted in this thread. I am going to check around. If the prices vary so much, perhaps I can get a better price by shipping it to Atlanta for the new battery pack. At...

    Software upgrade to improve range

I am thinking of trading in my Cmax for a Bolt. But I am keeping my Leaf. I love it.

    Software upgrade to improve range

Yep, I don't think so. Nothing personal.

    Software upgrade to improve range

A Nissan dealer in Conyers GA told me that he may be able to improve my range on my 2012 Leaf with a software upgrade and draining the battery to 0% and using a special charging method. The cost would be about $900. Sounds like BS to me. Has anyone else heard of this and has it worked for...

Nissan offers 2G Leaf owners a $199 3G upgrade, with just 24 days left

The point is moot. If you have an older Leaf you have two choices. Upgrade for $199 or loose the Carwings functions. I personally have not used Carwings since I got my Leaf. The climate timer is more useful for me to warm the car. Never the less I am having the upgrade done next month...
