    The LEAF is too nondescript?

I totally get what you're saying, George. It's not about the "LOOK AT ME" factor, but rather about an opportunity to get a little EV Evangelism done. Perhaps I'm influenced by the commercial, but I think it rather looks like a polar bear head on. The profile is less appealing, the rear in...

Gene and the Machine: The shocking truth about Volt

Ha. That was great. I am busy taking a careful daily tally of miles to see just how far I need to go. So far 5.6 shortest day, and a week day average of 35. Leather and heated seats are oh-so-very-tempting. But really, living in a town where there is unlikely to be much charging infrastructure...

    Reservations?

Ah. Thanks LEAFGuy. SOmewhere someone said it wouldn't work for the self-employed. We don't do withholding, well, we pay quarterly estimates based on previous years to avoid a honking tax bill in April, but we could probably hit the $7,500. Now, whether we could take advantage of the additional...

Poll : How will you power your LEAF ?

Should I get one, Mine will be all off the grid, and since I'm in GA, largely coal fired at that. Might be a good time to look into solar...

    Reservations?

wouldn't that be something? My local Nissan dealer is predicting LEAFs in Savannah,GA in/by December 2011. GA has a generous state tax credit in place, $5k, which is nice since as we're self employed the Fed credit won't apply. (Although I'm just checking that for sure with the guy who does...

If the Leaf were a computer, it would be...

Definitely an iPad. Awesome, game changing, amazingly functional WITHIN a very defined set of parameters.

    Roof Rack

One or the other already has something out for the Countryman (MINI's latest offering) so they seem to respond within months. Admittedly the CM has built in in tracks.

    Leaf Heater

Volvo is putting one in its C30 Electric apparently. I would settle for heated seats. I have those in the Mini, and I don't use the heater at all. The seats work great, require much less energy.

    Nissan Vinyl Graphics

I see there are some cool (if pricey) ones available for the Cube and some less interesting ones for the Juke. http://www.nissangraphics.com Would be a nice way to add some green to the car, I think. Hope they come up with some for the Leaf, beyond the rather uninspiring "zero emission" one...

    where are all the ladies?

'll give this a crack. 80% of American woman have had children by the time they are 44, ergo, most woman have children to move around. the US car industry has convinced women, that more than one child requires a minivan/SUV. this is not true. I can fit two children and their very large car seats...

    where are all the ladies?

Well, I don't have one, but I'm trying! Or trying to decide whether to go with Nissan or the Ford Focus, which with its slightly darker interior is moderately more sensible considering I will have two small boy children with me in the car. Both are looking to be available in my non-initial roll...

    Rebates and Credits

thanks for the answers, all very useful. :) interesting on the self employed tax distinction, I need to check with the tax guy since it's not my area of expertise. seems though that a lease might make more sense. thanks again, and sorry for rehashing an old topic. I saw so much talk about...

    Rebates and Credits

Hi all, So I'm still very much in the exploratory stages here, and am looking at the incentives. Beyond zero emissions, which is, well, huge. I see a lot of talk about how the IRS $7.5k rebate just means a credit against your taxes. Yet the rebate definition suggests otherwise: "Generally...
