HOW TO: Make the VSP (noisemaker) button default to off

Much easier to simply use Leaf Spy Pro to control this rather than a hardware implementation.

    2016 LEAF 12v battery replacement - won't start

Actually, there are a lot of DTC codes that do clear based on service cycles (various systems that have sequences that demonstrate the fault is no longer an issue). DTC's (because saying DTC codes is redundant ;-) typically fall into 3 categories for their trigger - persistent (they need to be...

    2016 LEAF 12v battery replacement - won't start

The 12v was fine (the replacement that is). I disconnected the battery leads overnight and then first thing this morning connected them back up and the car started perfectly. I didn't even clear the existing codes. As previously mentioned, the new battery tested perfectly (topdon battery load...

    2016 LEAF 12v battery replacement - won't start

Woke up in the morning, tried to start the car to check soc. Said 73%. Shut car off. Loaded the car with my stuff and went to start it back up and all kinds of things going on. Kind of knew the OEM original 2016 Nissan 12v battery was living on borrowed time so went and got a fresh interstate...

    2016 LEAF 12v battery replacement - won't start

My oem 12v battery finally bit it this morning and I replaced it with a fresh interstate battery. Now I can't get the car started. details: -new 12v battery tested good with battery tester -traction battery SOC 80% -have tried disconnecting + terminal for 1, 5 and 10 minutes -confirmed with...

    Project: Destroy my Battery

I scanned the thread and didn't see a single substantive response to the OP's real goal - "what can be done to shorten the life of the battery?" My 30kWh '16 is down to 9 bars at 71% SOH. It's got 80k on it now and that means if I drop one more bar the warranty kicks in and they likely will...

Hacking the VSP Box (Noise Maker)

You need to turn the service screen on. Then you select VSP settings. This is only available on LeafSpy Pro.

HOW TO: Make the VSP (noisemaker) button default to off

I believe the prius actually does have a backup beep but it's easily disabled. Well...the UI for LSP has come a long way and the service screen is really just that - intended to be used to do those config changes that are done few and far between. LSP will continue to evolve and improve as...

If anyone is interested in a brand new harness with a custom button - PM me and I have one for a song.

    Juicebox Pro 40: Feedback

Any leaf owners out there that can share some feedback on their Juicebox Pro 40? The app, the control, etc? Any other devices with similar functionality in a similar price range (the connected CC seems to be pricey)? I've been through EVSEupgrade, and am currently using a 40A openevse unit.

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Well - give me that 200 kWh roadster battery, toss it on a all wheel drive transmission and with a frame set up for towing and I'm good. We may not be a 1 car EV household, but we could definitely be a all EV household. http://engt.co/2APsuTP

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

We're way off topic here but I'm hoping a diversion will calm folks down a bit from all the name calling and finger pointing. I wrench on my own cars - electrical, engine, suspension and everything in-between. The sub I've pretty much done just about everything other than rebuild the tranny...

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Ah, ok. That explains a lot. I'm not willing to assume that level of risk. From my experience and where I live it's not a good risk. Not to mention that having full glass (thus having comp) almost pays for itself every year.

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

I live in colorado as well and I'm not even close to that with my leaf. My '95 sub isn't even close to that.

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

I would say we're all morons for one reason or another as it relates to the Leaf. We all (most likely) bought one...didn't we ;-)

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

I'm completely on-board here. We get WAY into the weeds here and it's great to understand how all of these systems and energy sources work together but when it comes right down to it...it's a car. In the bigger picture, we're all still considered to be early-adopters as it relates to the history...

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Yep - doesn't work for us. We have wildly varying schedules in the morning and multiple charge requirements. Not sure what $150 add-on you are referring to but if you are talking about the $199 juiceplug you are off by about 25% :-) Remember - there's a reason that all these companies are...

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

This drives me crazy. Wouldn't a simple software/firmware update allow for better control of the battery charging? Instead of all of these smart chargers, why can't the embedded software/UI in the car accommodate the same functions that OpenEVSE, Juicebox, etc all do? The above is more of a...

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

You'll have to share with us exactly where you would be parking the car with temps even close to -138F? All I know is wherever it is, it's a LONG way from Florida so I'm impressed if you actually drive your leaf there ;-)

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Maybe not "optimum" but I think there is PLENTY of data and experience to recommend best practices for charging. Are we really shooting for the optimum or at least some basic methodology better than willly-nilly charging? In other words, it is worth waiting around for complete and definitive...
