    End of Lease Strategies?

My lease extension indicated a revised residual amount. I think they are baking in the adjustments.

You probably won’t get anything off with that residual. That’s less than the “minimum payoff amount” I was told about from NMAC. Sounds like the cars are just worth more to them now than they were a year ago.

    End of Lease Strategies?

I backed into some ice about three weeks ago and it cracked the rear bumper under the license plate. I was sure that was going to cost me because the crack was about 7 inches long. it was kind of a hairline crack, but absolutely noticeable to anyone who looked. However, between that and the few...

    End of Lease Strategies?

It keeps a "hybrid reserve" at the bottom. It can still run in hybrid vehicle mode even when EV range gets to 0. I will admit to not having figured out all the numbers. There are others on the Clarity forums that are working on those details. As for my range right now, it's been crappy since...

    End of Lease Strategies?

Ok, to close out this saga... The Leaf went back officially today. Had a good experience with AIM on the vehicle inspection last week. No chargeable damage. Inspection took about 10 minutes and the inspector was very professional. When I took it back to the dealer, the salesperson was very...

    End of Lease Strategies?

You really did hit the sweet spot. I think the dealers got tired of being cut out of the deal by NMAC and complained so that's why were in our current situation. Was so much better when the deals were clear and in the open. Did I mention I hate stealerships?

    End of Lease Strategies?

I'm asking for what amounts to about a $4000 lease residual reduction. Current residual is $11,700 and I want the car for no more than $8500 all-in. I've got a few responses back as they're "working on it" with their finance managers...I hate stealership garbage talk. Will update.

    End of Lease Strategies?

Ok, mainly because I'm a glutton for punishment, I'm sending inquiries to dealers for a buyout amount again. My local dealer quoted me a ridiculous reduction that amounted to less than $1000 and then told me that was before fees!!! BTW that was Tynans Nissan and based on my experiences with...

    End of Lease Strategies?

I picked up a Honda Clarity PHEV today. Super nice car. It will hold me over until Tesla quality improves or until other mfrs catch up to them. The LEAF will go back in two weeks. Congrats to whoever in Norway ends up with it. It was a fun ride and a good car.

    End of Lease Strategies?

After the stealership experience of trying to buy out my 2015, not just no, but hell no. Nissan has lost me as a customer. The 2018 is lipstick on a pig. Still no TMS, still toy car range. I now have 1.5 months left before end of lease. I would still buy it out if I could get at least a $4 k...

    End of Lease Strategies?

Normal as in “we’ve seen that before”. Not normal in that it would qualify for warranty replacement at just 11k miles.

    End of Lease Strategies?

That amount of capacity loss is not even close to normal. You need to bring it in to the dealer for them to test. There is something very wrong with your car.

    End of Lease Strategies?

Yep. Mine is going back at end of extension in March. Tired of playing dealer games. No way is this car worth the residual or anywhere close to it. I’ll just have to get the kids a Fit or another Civic. I’ll be cruising in my Model 3.

    End of Lease Strategies?

Yes, I’ve been looking at moving out there and saw that being discussed on some of the boards. I guess it would sting less if I knew where it was going. I’ve frequently used Link and other public transportation options there so I can see the benefit. I even have my own ORCA card. However, I was...

    End of Lease Strategies?

Oh yes. Here in the great state of CO, our tag fees are huge. My first two years were $733 each. That is tax/tag and $50 annual “EV fee”. All new cars under 3 years old pay really huge “own tax” each year. On the flip side, they then give you a nice $5k refundable income tax credit. Our roads...

    End of Lease Strategies?

Yep. I really like my car, but it’s going back. With state/fed/local power co incentives, I can get a new one for nearly the same cost. I will take a hit on tax and tag, but why not.

    End of Lease Strategies?

You were lucky to have done that deal back in the “good old days” when NMAC would negotiate with the buyer. They have now handed the entire process over to those criminal stealerships who probably whines about losing profit because of NMAC deals. Now, the only ones told about the discounts are...

    pre-built Openevse chargers

Well, that's certainly another opinion. I personally like to understand the technology around me so I've gotten enjoyment out of building and understanding how my EVSE (the charger is in the car) works. I went so far as to learn about the protocol the car and the EVSE use to negotiate the charge...

    pre-built Openevse chargers

Unless you are completely allergic to DIY, I recommend buying one of the kits. The instructions Chris provides on the website are very detailed and easy to follow and the experience of building the unit is very rewarding. You’ll have a better idea of what that box on the wall is doing. Just my...
