    Loud noise when charging

It is partially similar to IC starter that has too little voltage to positively engage solenoid, just stronger. More like airless paint sprayer.

    Loud noise when charging

I know exactly where it comes from. It's the part that looks like starter/wipers motor and sticks out from the drivetrain there. The problem is to replicate that at the dealership. Seeing is believing. Now that I know it happens reliably when the temp is below 10F I will set up an appointment...

    Loud noise when charging

I may be biased since it's my car, but: a) the noise is heard not only when car is plugged in and charging but also when it's driving b) when the noise start you can hear ramp up in frequency (I give you that - I've never mentioned that before) Other than that it sure sounds like fast...

    Loud noise when charging

It's not a relay, it's definitely a pump like sound. I have been able to reproduce it easily - it requires outside temperature to go below 10F, then it makes that sound always during charging and also I can hear it when driving slowly (again with temps below 10F). My guess would be that it's a...

2013 Low Battery Capacity AHr Battery Degradation

Yup, I've tested that several times, LBW turns on at 50 GIDs. If it makes you feel better, I've got late '13 SV and my battery shows 58.9Ah, 89% Hx and 256 GIDS since new.

MY2014 no more 80% charge option?

I on the other hand find the whole thing confusing. Where is the cutoff of the 'safe/not safe' level? Is it exactly 80%? 83%? 92%? As an average driver I don't want to know. I want to plug in, charge whenever I want and how much I want and not think about that. To me the fact that they get rid...

    leviton evb32 7.7kw 32 amp pilot signal on a 40 amp breaker

It's just marketing. They figured that if you have 40A circuit breaker anyway they can set it up to provide 32A pilot and be up to the code. Now they will sell it as "the most powerful and fastest charger on the market". As you've said - not many cars can charge with that and even if they can...

    Possible battery or heater issue

To me it looks like the heater has a short somewhere and causes the battery voltage to drop. Doesn't discharge it fast enough so when you remove the short the battery pack recovers, but the voltage drop misleads the computer to think the pack is discharged.

The Market will Respond to After-Market Battery Demand

Of course you could just set the price "right" and publish official lead time for delivery. If you can build 2500 batteries a month you can officially said "we're going to sell 50 batteries a month as spares, get in line".

Active EV-CAN sampling: cell voltages, pack temperatures...

Is there a special trick to make it go to 284? I've never seen more than 256 in mine.

The Market will Respond to After-Market Battery Demand

Actually yes. If the words spreads out that Leaf is a disposable car (once the battery is dead you're done) they won't be selling much of either. If they don't want to sell the batteries alone - set a price so high nobody will buy it. If people want to replace battery with new one and pay...

    Loud noise when charging

Usually when it charges I can hear slight hum of fans and maybe pumps. This one is very loud, I've heard it through closed door in the living room above the garage. Now that I think about it I' almost sure I've heard it once before while driving, then it was brief enough that I atributed it to...

    Loud noise when charging

Mine wasn't washed and it wasn't even the coldest temperature in the garage it's already seen. I guess I need to wait and see if it's repeatable so I can demonstrate it to the dealer. I'm not sure the video will be enough to convince them it's broken.

    Loud noise when charging

So I've plugged it in and left the garage only to return few seconds later alarmed by a loud noise coming from under the hood. Here is how it sounded: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWGhIuhII5c Should I be very worried or just wait until it breaks completely?

Looked at a new Leaf yesterday, learned some neat stuff!

only in special package with LEDs, may be cheaper to get SL if you want that package as well. You sure can press it at any time but it only works at a very slow speed (like below 5mph) when moving forward.

    Electrical Options for EVSE Install

One thing that bothers me here - why nobody even blinks an eye if you put several outlets on one 110V 15A line, yet everybody say you need dedicated line for EVSE? If the OP has one 30A 240V line and plugs both dryer and car to it it's up to him to remember not to run them at the same time...

    Electrical Options for EVSE Install

Or you can get yourself an EVSE with ability to limit the current like open EVSE which you can set up to 24A - still much faster than trickle charger. I'd ask electrician to put another outlet on the other side of the wall using existing line and put a 24A EVSE on it.

What's a quick way to tell the difference between....

Nope, the easiest is that parking brake thing. If you can see the button on center console through the window it's '11-'12, if there is nothing than it's '13 This is the '11-'12: This is the '13:

Blink membership plans & fees (Warning : new RPA required)

Which can easily be circumvented by relating the price per h to the current you are actually drawing. E.g. if your car charges at 15A level you pay $1/h, if your car draws 30A you pay $2/h. You are billed by time just different rate.
