    Loss of acceleration

Here's an update: I spent some time browsing the troubleshooting forum and noticed that a wide variety of symptoms were associated with low/underperforming 12V batteries. Since that's a really easy thing to test, I hooked up a volt meter to the 12V outlet while driving. On my previous (2013)...

    Loss of acceleration

Hey guys, chiming in here with a third account of this problem! I took home my 2015 Leaf SV mid-December here in Maryland. Drove it 300 miles without issue, if I recall correctly. Then I went out of town for the holidays. Came back and I occasionally experience loss of acceleration like you...

    The CANary project

OOOHHHH.... I had no idea that the feature could enabled/disabled by the user. Guess I should have read my manual more thoroughly  :D

    The CANary project

If I hold the button for 5 seconds, the window will go all the way up, auto-up or not  But now I only have to tap it into the second-level up position and it will continue moving up after I let go, which is what it did when new. I'm more concerned that the speaker under the hood won't...

    Changing VSP sound

This project is fairly far down my to-do list, but I'm planning to incorporate it into my build of the CANary project. Reprogramming the chip on the stock board can be ruled out, since if we could even get a blank part it would be impossible to reverse-engineer if the code protection bits are...

    The CANary project

Hey guys, glad to see the project is continuing. I've been busy all winter and haven't been able to play with the schematics of mbed module I was working with back in, what, October? I am still planning to try something with the VSP sounds when I get my CANary assembled this summer. I found...

Integrated Automatic Neutral In Drive Mode.

I drive in D-Eco most of the time. When I want to coast, I just press the accelerator to the point where where it is no longer regenerating, and applying very little if any motor power. This is easy to do with the dash bubbles or power display. But I don't like driving in B mode in traffic...

    The CANary project

The tutorial on using a USB flash drive has in big red letters to close the switches to connect the 15k pulldowns. I assume this means they are important.

    The CANary project

    I mean this board, which has a socket for the same mbed module we are using: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11695" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

TT, very cool page! That will help people decide if they want to buold one, too. I know I want to even more now.

    The CANary project

That part is actually a Schottky diode with a max drop of 0.37V, but at the low currents we care about the drop will be more like 0.1V. If it works on the application board then it should work for us.

    The CANary project

I found the same diodes that the application board uses in the same place, i think BA60A. Forgot to put the part number on the schematic.

    The CANary project

I found my imgur login and updated my previous post with the schematic image. I am hoping to use the same enclosure design, maybe with a few tweaks. Making it physically compatible should not be too difficult.

    The CANary project

I just ordered the mbed and Application Board that Sparkfun sells. I'll be able to test various audio playback and USB connections with it. I'm basing my circuit updates largely on the Application Board's schematic, which includes the 15k resistors. I made a first pass at the schematic. I...

    The CANary project

Reading a bit on using the DAC output to play sound files, it may take a lot of CPU power. In that case, it might be better to use an external MP3 chip. Would streaming a wave file from the USB drive use too much bandwidth? I'm not too sold on the idea of anything but beeps in the cabin, so I...

    The CANary project

Flicker shouldn't be a problem if we use somethimg like a 1khz clock. Removing the filter and replacing the BJT with a MOSFET should reduce the overall current draw. It occurred to me this morning that we could have two transistors and control each backlight separately. Then you could do...

    The CANary project

I found the datasheet for the LCD module used on the TFT Proto: http://www.mikroe.com/downloads/get/1009/tft_320_240_touch_spec.pdf. It says the backlight LEDs use 60mA total with a drop of 2.9-3.4V. It is clearly designed to be PWM-controlled directly from a 3.3V rail, but I'm a little wary...

    The CANary project

(Not quoting text because it's too hard to edit on my phone, but this is in response to TT on more of the schematic.) In the '230 datasheet, table 6 shows the Rs pin functions. Stantdby is when the pin is held >0.75Vcc (2.4v). Non-slew rate controlled mode is when Rs is pulled below 1V (i.e...

    The CANary project

High expectations! Let's hope I can live up to them... Thanks for the feedback. I don't think I'll have time to finish redoing the board until December, but I'll post updates as I make progress on the schematic. Comments below. I found the schematic of the mbed LPC1768 module and it shows...

    The CANary project

Thanks for fixing the download link, I have a copy of the Eagle files now. Might I suggest also adding a link from that page to this forum thread? I like the idea of making a little connector board for the LCDs. I might even go a step farther and make them use FFC jumpers to the main board...
