First cold night...no heat? Anywhere? Grr

They gave me a chart they found in their literature...the Heat Pump is assisted by something called a PTC Heater for startup and colder weather. The PTC operates 100% of the time from -4 to 14ºF, and gradually does less & less of the work from 14º to 68º, not operating at all above 68. The...

First cold night...no heat? Anywhere? Grr

Ok, so check this out...this is interesting. I took it to the dealer to let 'em have a look, and they agreed the air coming out felt too cool & couldn't understand why the seats & steering wheel wouldn't stay hot & everything seemed as messed up to them as it seemed to me. So after some digging...

First cold night...no heat? Anywhere? Grr

I've tried it both ways, same thing. Noticed something interesting this morning though...the heater is doing the same thing the steering wheel & seats do. For a few minutes it'll start to blow warm, then it blows cold again. It's like it's hitting a cutoff from either building up too much...

First cold night...no heat? Anywhere? Grr

Yeah that's what my steering wheel & seat seem to be doing now, give it 5-10 minutes & they get nice & toasty, then they get cold for the rest of the trip. The heater does apparently "work", but its very anemic. In about the 10 minutes the seat warmers & steering wheel give out on me, the cabin...

I'm not far from you JMJ, I live in Woodstock & work in Atlanta. Bought it at Regal Nissan on Holcomb Bridge...you?

    Say hello to sparky!!

Klayfish, yes! Glad I'm not the only one with completely paradoxical tastes in cars. :) Surprisingly though, it was my mountain biking buddies that have given me the hardest time about the Leaf, not the hot rodders. My first other car is a Toyota Tacoma, and they just can't believe my spot at...

    Say hello to sparky!!

Donald & Yogi - Absolutely! I figured Sparky & Evie are probably the most common names for an EV...followed closely by Buzz. I thought about getting TRNOVER for my license plate...so it would be "Turnover, a new Leaf." But that just didn't seem to fit its personality so I quickly scrapped that...

    Update Carwings!!

That's so crazy to me. You're right, but car manufacturers should be ashamed. It's not even the onboard part of it that drives me nuts, it's the web interface. Something that every high school kid in america could easily fix for them during a break from their twitter account. The route planner...

    Say hello to sparky!!

Looks like about a 65 mile round trip day for me to go to Manuel's, and I've actually got plans in the Highlands a couple times between now and the 16th. Still trying to learn my range limits so I haven't pushed it that far without a level 2 charger along the way, especially with the bike rack I...

First cold night...no heat? Anywhere? Grr

When I've got the heat & AC on, thermostat set to 90, fan set to high, front & rear defrost on, the energy says climate control is using about 1.5 kwh...does that sound about right? If I cut AC off that drops to below 1, but if I put AC on and cut heat off it drops to a little over 1 so if I had...

First cold night...no heat? Anywhere? Grr

Yes, lights on all the switches come on...same amber light for everything, including both the high or low setting of the seat warmers. I'll check the fuses before I take it in, I was sort of hoping it was operator error.

    Steering wheel buttons

Ah! How had I not figured that out yet? lol. I thought toggling just moved back & forth through sources. :) Thanks!

First cold night...no heat? Anywhere? Grr

It's not very cold out at all, low 60's high 50's...I live in GA so it's just barely started to get cool out. The steering wheel & seat heaters I'm feeling nothing at all. When I first tested 'em they did work and felt awesome, so I think something is definitely fishy there. So far since the car...

First cold night...no heat? Anywhere? Grr

So it's been 5 days since I leased my 2013 SV. Is there some magic trick to the heater, or is mine jacked up? The steering wheel, the seats, the air, nothing would get hot. Is there some magic trick I should be doing? The first day I had it, I was LOVING the heated steering wheel, used it to...

    Say hello to sparky!!

Haha, no fair Sparky, you stole my cars name ages before it existed! :) When I was at the dealer setting up Carwings, he asked for the cars nickname & Sparky was the first thing that came to mind...I told him I'm sure I wasn't the only person who said that but he said he hadn't heard it before...

    Say hello to sparky!!

Hey guys! Signed up for some info, figured I should say hi & not just be a lurker! :) Say hello to Sparky! 2013 SV with premium package...loving this thing! I was excited about the gas savings (I spent more money in gas for my truck each month than the lease payment on my Leaf) so it's a...

    Update Carwings!!

Does anybody else want to vomit when they see how dated and hard to use the carwings interface is on the internet, and how nearly useless it is on their smartphone? This car is so innovative, why is the Carwings software designed like a clunky and awkward windows 95 computer?

    Steering wheel buttons

This is one of my few pet peeves with the car too. Why do I have so many cruise buttons & no button to change stations on the radio? the pointless cancel button could be the cruise on/off, freeing up a space for the Next/Previous buttons for the stereo that are woefully absent on the steering...
