Re: Leaf got laughed at last night

Just to put a finer point on it: when people talk about EVs having the torque available "instantly," they often forget to tell you that some EVs just don't have a lot of torque. Hubmotors, which are mainly used in bikes and scooters but sometimes in cars, are notorious for having low torqu...

Re: The “range–extended” EV (BEVx) considered

well I bought a leaf not a prius most of the time I do not need a extender. sometimes it would be nice to hook one up. Extending the powercord probably won't work since the leaf's programming probably don't allow drive and charge this way. It would be easier to correct which car you bought than to ...

Re: The “range–extended” EV (BEVx) considered

You could extend the 120 volt EVSE to the back just by mounting it under the hood and using a heavy duty 120 volt extension cord run under the body (and properly secured). I keep seeing these generator add-on ideas and always feel revulsion. A propane powered *catalytic* heater is something I've bee...

Re: Charging at work. Yay or Nay?

I can't even rely on a handicapped parking space being open for me, much less a slot with power. However, the only public charging station in Albany NY is 3.3 miles from my work, and it's free, so if I'm low on charge I can stop there on my way home, for 15 minutes. Is that the Holiday Inn Express?...

Re: Battery Long Life Mode

Some of us are trying to 'split the difference' and are manually charging to 85-90%. If you are going to use the car soon after charging, 100% isn't as likely to cause damage as it is if you let it sit there fully charged for days. I work a three day "week" and charge above 80% on those da...

Re: Sports leaf with more power lower stance and better look

I've suggested elsewhere that they simply offer a sportier Leaf with the old power characteristics and stiffer suspension on the existing platform. With NISMO offering a suspension upgrade and "tuned" controller, they already have pretty much everything the need to do it off the shelf. If...

Re: Substandard charge adapter provided with 2013 Leaf

I don't understand why no one has suggested the obvious solution: go to the dealer and ask for your upgraded EVSE back, in exchange for the new, 120 volt unit you got with the car. If they say they don't have it, insist that they pay to have your new EVSE upgraded, and loan you a standard one while ...

Re: Air Conditioning on 2013 Leaf using more power while mov

I haven't noticed it with A/C, but my 2013 SV will provide virtually no heat when stopped and charging with 120 volts. This despite the climate control being given priority over charging in the Settings. It does provide heat when I'm driving...

Re: New guy here with some basic charging questions

Thanks guys, I appreciate all of the help. It sounds like I may be able to get away with 120v, but I have several options for 240v if needbe. Now I have a budget that I can put in the calculations. I am trying to figure out if I can make the Leaf "worth it" on a monthly basis. It looks li...
