Re: Tesla to J1772 Adaptor

I bought one for our cabin. We now have Teslas and sold our J1772 EVSEs on eBay. So now we have Tesla Mobile Connectors (EVSE). The cabin is in a gated community 30 miles from nowhere. On the off chance that someone other than a Tesla Owner needs a charge with a J1772 car I can offer them help. The ...

Re: GM to start installing NACS inlets on their EVs starting 2025

If the Ariya had NACS port and $7,500 tax credit I likely would be driving it instead of a Tesla. Nissan needs to get smarter so they can compete. We test drove the Ariya in Orlando last year. It was very traditional compared to a Tesla which isn’t a bad thing for older folks like us. The Nissan Ari...

Re: Tesla real-world efficiency?

Our Tesla Model Ys do about 273 kw/mile on trips running steady 60-65 mph, which is 3.66 miles/kw. It’s a little better than our Leafs were.

We routinely do a 125 trip and it uses 45% of the battery. We start at 80% and end at 35% almost every time.

Re: Starting the Buyback process on 2016 SV

I'll bring the LEAF up to her and see if she wants to look at it, though with no tax credit and CHAdeMO, it's not a terribly attractive car at the moment. She's also somewhat bitter about losing the ability to turn on her heater remotely in the winter when the 3G network went offline, as that was l...

Re: InsideEVs Apr 2023: "We are not too optimistic about the Leaf."

Let me add my 2 cents opinion as a 76 year old fart who has owned 5 Leafs (2015, 2018, 2019, 2020 &. 2023).and now an owner of 2 Tesla Model Ys. My favorite Leaf was our White/White 2019 SL Plus that got totaled. The egress/ Ingress of the leaf was excellent. The simplicity made the Leaf felt li...

Re: First Take: Nissan keeps 85% of EV Tax Credit Via Lease

If Nissan is getting a $7,500 credit then the capitalized cost should also be reduced by $7,500. If not then they are taking advantage. Exactly The capitalized cost of a car doesn't matter when you can't buy the car at the residual. I would think that if there’s an early termination option then a r...

Re: First Take: Nissan keeps 85% of EV Tax Credit Via Lease

For the handful of leases I’ve negotiated I always ask for the 4 numbers that are used to calculate the lease With no buyout or residual, the only really important number will be the monthly payment, unless they keep more than one length for the leases. I'm guessing it will be either only 3 years, ...

Re: First Take: Nissan keeps 85% of EV Tax Credit Via Lease

For the handful of leases I’ve negotiated I always ask for the 4 numbers that are used to calculate the lease. That way you can see where they are overcharging. Of course in today’s market I’m sure there is little room for negotiation. 1- MSRP 2- Capitalized cost 3- Residual 4- Money factor. Throw t...

Re: First Take: Nissan keeps 85% of EV Tax Credit Via Lease

It is interesting that Nissan no longer lets people who lease EVs buy them. I expect that to change, unless Nissan thinks it is necessary to be compliant with the business EV credit rules. I though that that was in the case of one lease "product" only. Has Nissan actually said that they w...
