Re: Strange Tire Maintenance Message

On a slight tangent: the 36psi recommendation by Nissan is too low for the heavy Leaf. You want 38-44psi. I suggest 38-40 in Winter.

Bits & Pieces

We need a topic where people can post a comment or bit of news that doesn't really need a topic of its own. In this case, my news is that, after ten plus years of driving Leafs, I have finally installed a L-2 charging station. It's a Clipper Creek HCS (or maybe LCS - I forget) 25, meaning it's only ...

Nice! I'd be happy with a hand cranked unit.

Re: Front of car ‘dropped’ and tyres rubbing

Even if the shocks/struts had lost their gas, the springs determine the ride height, AFAIK. Unless the car has aftermarket height-adjustable units that were raised and then lost their gas - or unless I'm mistaken in my assumption above.

Welcome. Try looking closely at the upper strut mounts.

Re: Michelin Energy Saver A/S

For my housemate's Plus, we found Goodyear UltraGrips on clearance for s little under $100, so we put a set on and she's going to drive them year round, into the ground. We drive few miles, and so far they seem to be holding up fine. My Michelin x-Ice tires on Winter wheels are sitting in the garage...

Re: Leaf was my "Gateway Drug"

Ideology aside, neither my housemate (a very recent EV convert) nor I find ICE vehicles at all enjoyable. Sitting at a stoplight and having an engine running for no good reason is just annoying, and the power curve of most engines makes them less fun to drive. These things, along with the smell, mak...

Re: 12v battery replacement recommendations?

What is the climate where you live? If you have harsh Winters, or even just Cold ones, you may want to consider an AGM battery instead.

Re: 2019 LEAF won’t start

- dead battery can be immediately addressed by jumpstart and then either driving or plug-in charging or just idling Plugging in won't do a good job of charging the battery, nor will just running the car. The latter may charge it well enough to drive it, but it's best to recharge a drained battery f...

Re: Nissan is Either Ending Free Remote Access or Wants You to Pay Them Anyway

This depressing news is about 2 weeks old now, but here it is: Nissan is now admitting, in their latest sales pitch email for Nissan Connect, that they are indeed ending the free version for Leafs made after MY 2020. There are two versions being offered , "Premium" (IIRC) for about $17 a m...
