Re: 12V battery went "bad" after VCM recall?

Welcome. If you live in a Hot or Cold climate, then four years isn't unusual. It would be a little soon if your climate is mild. I agree that they may have managed to run the battery down during the update, but that may be hard to prove.

Re: Winter range

Welcome. You can expect roughly a 25% drop in range in milder Winter weather, rising to roughly 50% in extreme cold, wind, snow and slush. If it's any consolation, the cars with heat pump do no better in temps below about 20F. Learn to use the heated seat and steering wheel to best effect, if so equ...

Re: Extension cords

Heat buildup usually occurs at the outlet, so having an extension cord plugged into the outlet, with the EVSE plugged into the other end of the cord, moves the temp sensor away from the outlet that it's supposed to be 'watching'. AFAIK, it's a kill-type setup, with the sensor cutting the connection ...

Re: Help requested for longer EVSE charging cable

I've only used it once or twice. I figured it now makes more sense to carry one of those for ICEd charging spots than it does to carry an L-1 cable.

Re: Help requested for longer EVSE charging cable

The J-1772 extension cable should work fine, although I paid $300 for mine, not $75.

Re: How often do you drive without ECO?

Unlike some folks I much prefer the throttle mapping in ECO; it's much easier to drive smoothly in traffic. I always preferred it too, for the reasons given. The '21, though, is just too sluggish in Eco; sure I could mash the pedal a lot and get full power, but I prefer having very adequate power o...

Re: Extension cords

The EVSE from Nissan, along with many other OEM units, has a temperature sensor built into the plug, to protect from overheating. Using an extension cord renders this extra layer of protection useless. So perhaps you'd consider rethinking your 'You people are idiots and I'm the sane one in the room'...

Re: deciding between 2021 vs 2020 SV Plus

Now, having done all that bitching about the '21, I should note that mine is a non-Plus Leaf - what I call an SV40. The Plus version, radio aside, may be better.

Re: deciding between 2021 vs 2020 SV Plus

Our 2020 doesn't have weak brakes at all. Just the '21. (knight, I think it's more than a poorly programmed or manufactured sensor.) Also, the accelerator pedal mapping was changed for 2021, and Eco mode is downright sluggish in the '21 + model years. I have been driving Leafs for 10+ years, and thi...

Re: deciding between 2021 vs 2020 SV Plus

Curious about "better specs" for 2020? I don't think I was able to find anything (or at least not anything that I understood!) about differences between those 2 model years. Off the top of my head (I just got up): '20 was the last year for HD radio. The brakes may or may not be lower qual...
