Re: Auto Power off?

Auto-power off could be implemented such that car is in Park, key is not detected, seat sensors indicate no occupants, all seatbelts unlatched, and optional timeout enabled. Telematics would push a message a few minutes after abandoning the car, five minutes before timeout, and at timeout shutdown. ...

Re: 2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Had the update done on Friday to my 2016 SV. SOH went from 90.18% to 95.55%. GOM showed 131 miles after a full charge (whereas 114-121 is more typical for my driving patterns). AHr jumped from 71.675 to 75.943. Curiously, HX unaffected and is still dropping; currently 83.87. (SOH also dropping simil...

Re: H13/9008 bulb change

So far, none of the aftermarket LED headlight bulb retrofits are DOT approved. As such, the resulting beam pattern may or may not equal the original beam pattern. If you do go the LED route, choose wisely and verify the resulting beam pattern before and after. You don’t want to blind other drivers, ...

Re: Recommendations for light-duty commercial EVSEs

We're a business. For this we want "off the shelf" and "just works". Is there a commercially supported OpenEVSE vendor? I believe Wattzilla is producing several varieties of rugged UL-certified EVSE units based on the OpenEVSE project. Looks like everything from a portable cable...

Re: How to get more charging stations.

Perhaps it is time once again to lobby your electric utility. It seems decades of promoting conservation, efficiency, and home solar have actually paid off, if not on the balance sheet. Houses are using less electricity now with all the LED lighting, high efficiency heat pumps, insulation, and grid-...

Re: Power Inverter and Space Heater in Leaf

Here is an idea I experimented with: a small solid state thermoelectric 12V cooler, the kind sized to hold about a six pack of sodas, inside completely filled with water in a well-sealed bag. Run the cooler in "warming" mode to heat up the water. When heat is needed in the morning, run in ...

Re: What is the name of this plug?

Mouser is a great source for finding connectors. Nissan uses TE Connectivity 025 Series. You can use Mouser's connector search tool to find just about anything. Sometimes they'll be out of stock of one thing, but with a little poking around you can often find a compatible variant that is in stock (i...

Re: trunk light

My 2016 SV automatically turns off interior lights if a door is left open long enough. Might be 5 or 10 minutes.

I replaced my trunk light with a bright white LED from the local auto store. Much better visibility and doesn't get so hot.

Re: Need old timer help with low use charge regimine.

Same pattern here as I work at home. There are days I don't need to drive anywhere, and I can walk to the grocery store and post office. As well, I snowbird in the winter leaving the LEAF at mid charge, unplugged, and on a 12V battery maintainer for 5 months at a time. I just try not to leave the ca...

Re: 2017 A/C not working

My 2016 SV heat pump can make a loud humming, almost buzzing, sound at full tilt when first starting the car if the cabin is heat soaked. In a few minutes it ramps down in speed to just maintain selected temperature, and then the majority sound is from the condenser cooling fans under the hood. Star...
