More importantly, their sales are only limited by capacity. AKA - They sell them as fast as they can make them. Any company that can do that profitably is successful.

Saying Tesla is an "unsuccessful" company because of losses to date is like calling Amazon unsuccessful prior to 2018. It's a little ridiculous. Tesla has followed a pretty predictable script. Take on debt and losses to build out capacity of a popular high margin product. The numbers you...

That quote is true, but I would say that Tesla is overcoming more monopolistic practices than it is creating. There's a difference between legitimately dominating a market and being a monopoly.

If by "way" you mean "funding", you are correct.

Good strategy. I might regret selling, but I'm confident it will end up below current price at some point in the near future.

Much of Amazon's value comes from nothing to do with product sales. That is a low margin business. Their recent growth has been fueled by AWS and service sales. Tesla's valuation is speculating the a similar evolution will occur with them. I don't think they can justify much more growth as...

It's probably all of the above. The short squeeze is definitely happening, but can't be credited with all of this gain. Hysteria/FOMO is probably most of it. Have to say, though, that their forward P/E is around 100, which isn't as insane as you would think.

Hate to poke the bear, but can you be more specific? Not meeting planned milestones doesn't make someone a liar. He's also not the only CEO to do this. He just gets more attention for it. The guy takes moon-shots for a living. He has accomplished things everyone said were impossible. If...

Technically, you have to know someone's intent to deceive to call them a "liar". I think Musk believes all of his predictions, and aside from the going private tweet, they have been substantially accurate, just not on time.

I bought shares about a year and a half ago after watching the stock for a long time. I thought it was too speculative for me for a very long time, but once they started producing the model 3 at volume I personally thought they would be able to sustain long term success and the stock became...

I agree. Fundamentally, it's easy to say Tesla is over-valued. But, they are a growing company, and growing companies ALWAYS have a certain amount of growth baked into their current price. Tesla appears to have more than most, but less than others, such as Beyond Meat or Uber. With a forward...

Update on Nissan LEAF Battery Replacement

Sounds like I need to buy a 2017 ASAP. The newer warranties are much more generous than the old ones. I would fully expect to lose 4 bars over 8 years in the hot florida sun. I've been losing about 5% per year on the 2014 I bought 3 years ago.

Canadian Shop Upgrades 2015 LEAF & Triples Range To More Than 200 Miles

You might be right, but I'm not sure. It will be several years before my '14 Leaf needs a new battery to meet my needs, and by then I'm not sure I would spend around $5K to restore such an old car. Some people will, some won't.

Canadian Shop Upgrades 2015 LEAF & Triples Range To More Than 200 Miles

Even if you assume $100/kWhr, by the time you throw in the $1K for the set up, and another $1k (or more) for labor, you're look at over $8K to replace/upgrade the battery on an 8-10 year old car. That's a tough ask.
