    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

Nissan warranty services had my dealer do tests that took a couple of days. I suspect they are looking for conditions that could be fixed by replacing some modules, rather than the entire battery.

What state are you in? I’ve read here that Nissan uses your state’s lemon law to determine the usage charge.

Got a call from the dealer on Feb 21 saying my car was ready to be picked up. I drove it home that afternoon, with a new 40 kWh battery and 160 mile range :-). So for me, the process went as follows: October to Jan 30: find a dealer who would actually submit a warrantee claim. Jan 30 to Feb. 21...

Yes, I was careful to have the battery report done yearly, and had the dealer do the firmware update when it came out.

I finally found a nearby dealer that will submit a warranty claim: Ron Bouchard Nissan in Lancaster, MA. Very impressive compared to the ignorance I got from Commonwealth Nissan and the outright hostility and lengthy run-around from Marlboro Nissan. I took the car in to Bouchard’s on Jan. 30...

I believe I have had the BMS firmware update, but I don’t have the car available right now to check. I know they have done at least one firmware update on the car, but I didn’t pay close attention to what was updated.

My 2016 Leaf is down to eight bars, and otherwise satisfies the conditions on the battery capacity warranty - 100,000 miles and 96 months. I’ve been to two different Nissan dealers, and they both gave me the same story: that they cannot start a warranty claim without a DTC code. Of course...
