I, too have wondered about this also. I can easily figure it out if someone can tell me what percent of full charge the battery is at when it starts to taper (see graph link below). Is it exactly 80%? I have all the numbers in a spreadsheet for every charge since 2012.
I have a 2013 with the 6.6kw charger, and before that, a 2012 with the 3.3kw charger. No problems at all with over 3000 chargings between both cars, all with the GE wattstation. We have had power outages also.

I would recommend getting the heat pump version. Ive had both versions of the leaf, and the heat pump works much better, and much faster and leaves you with more range. The resistive heater version is a huge pig that takes a while to pump out heat.
