General PSA: Isolation faults in 40kWh packs

I don't have enough data to say anything certain, but it looks like there isn't much difference other then energy density.

Hx is really low, but car runs great (I'm just paranoid)

Besides the LeafSpy you can evaluate state of the battery by driving uphill and then downhill on the same route. It is normal that the GOM will go down a bit faster uphill, but if you experience quick range drop uphill and then regaining it downhill, then this is an indicator which shouldn't be...

General PSA: Isolation faults in 40kWh packs

This is very valuable info and at the same time it's scary to see, because in this case I can almost smell the fire. At least a severe risk. I found this in one car: Didn't care to find which one leaked since it had to be replaced as a whole.

What is the price range of a new fob?

Around $20 on Aliexpress. You have to program it in with diagnostic tool which most of mechanics have.

Modules and instructions for upgrading battery from 24-40 kwh?

I forgot to mention, this upgrade will cost you about $4,500. If that isn't a good price then I don't know what is. I would never buy a salvage pack, they are expensive and a big risk for loss of money. Even with no programming your car (BMS) will eventually figure out that it has bigger cells...

Modules and instructions for upgrading battery from 24-40 kwh?

I just did that on 2019 Leaf 40kWh. Now I'm working on another 30kWh battery and I don't find any info on what happens, if I put 40kWh worth of cells in. I'm thinking of cheating current sensor readings, but this would influence consumption readings. My guess is, that if you put 40kWh cells in a...

    My first road trip

Nissan Leaf is simply not meant/built for long road trips. It is a good commuter car, usually (as in my case) it's a 2nd family car.

Leaf 30kwh 2017, any opinion on those graphs?

Yea, but it was a pain to connect them with those thin tabs.

Leaf 30kwh 2017, any opinion on those graphs?

Batteries cost me 2,300€, but the amount of labor was huge, mostly because MEB packs are really hard to disassemble safely. It would take less time now but I don't know if I would do it again. The biggest and messiest problem is to detach (de-glue) the cells without damaging them (and causing an...

Leaf 30kwh 2017, any opinion on those graphs?

Thank you 😊. My test was carried out from 250m to 410m above sea level, so 160m of roughly 500ft of inclination, which is not very much. I suppose for city driving this would still be a good battery, EV is most efficient there anyway. But my country Slovenia, be it small, is very diverse and...

Battery percentage drops erratically on acceleration

Of course it's not normal. You are on the edge of warranty so you need to be persistent. They are trying to avoid your rightful claim. If you have time, check my other replies and some explanation why this happens. I have two Nissan Leafs with graphs and I even recorded a video of how it...

Leaf 30kwh 2017, any opinion on those graphs?

It was around 10°C, absolutely no freezing. No, I bought this car to fix it and then we'll se if we keep it for my wife or sell it. It was a bit challenging and it almost stranded me. I didn't expect it to be so bad, otherwise I wouldn't even do it. I didn't even notice cells going so low. It...

Leaf 30kwh 2017, any opinion on those graphs?

Hi. Now I'm a bit late after a couple of feverish days. It looks like the BMS (or LBC) reports the real numbers to the dash, but the dash computer adjusts the displayed SOC to be in tandem with GOM, otherwise it wouldn't make sense to the driver. So there is stil juice in the battery, but it...

Leaf 30kwh 2017, any opinion on those graphs?

Yesterday I recorded a video of driving Nissan Leaf 2019 with the intent of showing how can a battery with still good SOH number of 82% and bad Hx at 49% really behave in very moderate cold (10°C). I think everyone should make this test before buying and even without of LeafSpy. The results tell...

Hi to all Leaf drivers with poor batteries

Thank you! I have successfully reset the SOH in my first car since it was climbing very slowly, it didn't reset the bars on the dash. I just received the bare cells for my 2nd job. I will be posting the progress on this forum, if there will be any interest. MOQ was 100, so I have 4 pcs spare...
