Well, it took 11 years, 8 months for my 2012 Leaf to die an undramatic death. My son brought it home from work and plugged it in and boom, no charging. So, after losing 7 of the 12 capacity bars, the third Leaf in Kansas is finally dead. Troubleshooting says it's the on board charger. Which...
For what it's worth I still have my 2012 with 55k on it, 3 bar loser, and I'm getting 50 real miles on a full charge with 4.5 miles/kwh. It's nice not having a payment but with a 3 mile commute even though #2 son scraped the crap outta it, it's still doing the job.
The bigger issue will be how much heat you use in the cold temps. Below 40*F (IIRC) the heat is the old style resistance heater which uses a lot of energy and that will impact your range more than a cold battery. The reason a cold battery affects range is that it doesn't transfer energy as...
soooooooooo.... good news and bad news
Bad news - lost my third capacity bar today
Good news - it took 4.5 years to lose 3 capacity bars
Bad news - I still have 1.5 years of payments
Good news - the car still covers 90% of my driving (down 5% from 2012)
Bad news - no hope of a new battery
Good...
I'm in a similar boat with CD. June 2012 purchase and May 2012 battery - these are the last batteries from Japan. I'm down 2 capacity bars and sitting closer to 43k miles. I can still get 50+ miles city. I'm not sure what my actual longer range would be at highway speeds. I can run to the...
Got my letter yesterday offering that Nissan would pay for a 'substantial' portion of the cost.
I don't think my next EV will be a Leaf. Really getting sick of Nissan.
You know the best thing about the first real warm week in spring? It's like getting a brand new car again when the battery warms up.
Better acceleration, actual regeneration, it's like a whole new car.
I helped a new citizen. He moved here from Chicago with his Smart EV convertible. He lives in the apts across from the office with no EVSE avail. I was opening up the password protected charger for a month until security got around to getting a chargepoint card for visitors and neighbors.

Not really surprised. I didn't like my experiences shopping at Hendrick which is why I didn't buy there.
Of course, buying a Leaf is totally the wrong thing. Always lease, wish I had.
