Just a reminder...(Will EVs get crushed again ?)

I'm absolutely certain EVs will be crushed again. Yep the 2011 LEAFs will begin to be crushed in 2036 with 300K miles on them!

True, but recall there's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.

Most common LEAF service issue in first 3 yrs

With the 1000's of EVs which have been on the road over the last decade you would think there would be empirical data available regarding typical maintenance items and service issue. I recall the GM mechanic in "Who Killed the Electric Car" mentioned he basically just toped off fluids, rotated...

Most common LEAF service issue in first 3 yrs

Wiper blades! After a few months wiper blade tend to make that squeal noise. In a quiet car like the LEAF, it will drive you nuts! Rain-X on the windshield helps.

The Volt is NOT an EV

 Same here! My 1967 Camaro SS vapor locked and stalled in the middle of a busy five-point intersection during rush hour. I did the same thing, dumped it in second gear and hit the starter (no lockout on those cars). I got it coasting down a hill and popped the clutch. It fired right up and...

The Volt is NOT an EV

I'm in the later camp. Over half the cars I've owned were GM and I own one now. I wanted the Volt to be a true hybrid because then there could be a roadmap to replace the ICE with a fuel cell or maybe reduce it's size and increase the size of the battery pack. But now I see the ICE in the Volt...

The Volt is NOT an EV

Right. It's like you bought two cars - an ICE and an EV. The GM dealers service department has got to like that.

The Volt is NOT an EV

So what I learned today is that the Volt transmission is there to combine the power of the main motor with a smaller motor or the ICE. The smaller motor is normally your generator. However it can, under specific circumstances be combined with the main motor though the Volt transmission to create...

    HYPOTHETICAL: Bicycle Generator charging

Roughly three people peddling simultaneously for an hour could charge the LEAF for one mile of distance.

Top ten Nissan LEAF dealers in the U.S.

Perhaps it makes no difference to you personally, but it makes a lot of difference to the vast majority of consumers. There are a lot of books on Marketing and Positioning which describe why it's so important. Basically marketing battles are fought in the mind of the consumer. Consumers choose...

The Volt is NOT an EV

Here's GM's damage control statement on the issue of the Voltec electric drive unit. For me the Volt has been an endless series of disappointments. At first I saw this really cool looking concept car which purportedly was to be a serial hybrid with a large electric drive motor, Li-ion pack good...
