The problem is that most population in WA are also subject to very high sales tax (over 10%). Our state government has became increasingly hostile to EV/PHEV owners over the past few years.

Which should I get: Nissan leaf SL or Chevrolet Volt?

They are talking about the 1st gen Volt, the current gen holds its value incredibly well. I wish the 2nd gen Volt depreciates faster so I can get a good deal on a used one, but here in WA you will only save a few thousand dollars if you buy used. It's getting harder and harder to own an EV in WA...

Which should I get: Nissan leaf SL or Chevrolet Volt?

My vote goes to the Volt, LEAF will see a much steeper depreciation than the Volt. With active battery management even Gen 1 Volt has minimum battery degradation, and thus hold their value better. Had I know this when I bought my 13' LEAF I'd chose the Volt in a heartbeat. With a Volt someone...

Nissan "Out-of-Warranty" support for battery pack degradation

I find it hard to believe the thew's range dropped from 100 miles to 30 miles within a year, that can't be due to degradation alone. Probably should looking at faulty cells, and that's covered by the defective warranty.

250,000 All Electric miles on my Nissan LEAFs

Wow that's impressive, our awful traffic must have helped with that 125 miles range. Probably also why your tires lasted that long too, I'm hitting 56000 miles on my original 2013 tires, but I think I'll be needing replacement within the next 6 months.

ICEless in Seattle : Official Pacific NorthWest thread

I hear what you are saying, no I don't think any of my cells are bad, it's just by the time I lose three or more bars and the car can no longer work for my needs, I wish there is a way to swap out the most degraded cells and restore my charge to a reasonable amount (90%).

people getting rid of their Leafs/EVs/PHEVs and going back to ICEVs

My commute is 18 miles one way mostly highway, so the only vehicle that made sense is the Clarity and 2nd gen Volt. I occasionally need to carry 5 people so the Prime is out and Volt is barely making it because the center seat is meant for people with no legs. While the Clarity looks pretty good...

ICEless in Seattle : Official Pacific NorthWest thread

@DaveinOlyWA Do you know any shop or individual in WA or northern OR who can help with swapping cells in a LEAF battery pack. Specifically someone who can drop the pack, open it, swap out the bad cells, and reinstall the pack. Provided that I bring enough number of non-degraded cells.

That's a great price for the Clarity, but no matter what I just can't get used to its looks. :D

people getting rid of their Leafs/EVs/PHEVs and going back to ICEVs

I'm seriously considering getting rid of my LEAF, but I can't imagine going back to full ICE, I'll most likely choose a PHEV like Volt or a hybrid like the new Honda Accord Hybrid.

2013-2014 bar losers and capacity losses

It depends, sounds like your car survived this summer just fine, so I think you won't have to worry about dropping another bar until next summer. My case is different though, I was at 54 AHr back in March of this year and by August I lost the 11th bar with 49 AHr. Car is garaged but parked...

Update: just lost my second bar today. Build date is 03/13 so it's a canary.

Warning: Battery Replacement Cost Increase (now $8500)

This price hike really is the last straw as, I went to the new LEAF event and really like their ProPilot, I was seriously considering the 2019 60KWh LEAF e-plus, but now I will not get one and not recommend any Nissan vehicles to anyone based on their business practices. I'm glad I got mine...

Just waiting for my second bar to drop. 2013 with 53,144 miles, LeafSpy: 49.756 AHr, SOH 74%, Hx70.30% as of 08/20/2018 A huge drop in capacity since March when I had 55AHr and 84%, then again, we had a lot of 90 degree plus days this summer.
