Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

Properly installed and integrated into the vehicle s Climate system, it could be an option and perhaps they could still consider the leaf 100 percent electric vehicle of you don't have one. It ll never happen though, they need it to remain 100 percent electric, and not be associated with...

Charging increased from 4.5 hours to 5.5 hours

It changed back to normal after I plugged it in, after maybe 10 minutes of charging. I guess it estimated I won't for some reason. I have never seen 5 hours in all these years,so it got me a little worried. It charged normally in about 3 1/2 hours.

Charging increased from 4.5 hours to 5.5 hours

Can anybody suggest why, for the first time today in 3 years, I saw an estimated charge time of 5 1/2 hours in level II? I arrived home with 2 bars left, which would usually be around 4 hours, maybe 4 and a half when really cold out. Temperature outside was 34 degrees F. Its a 2012 leaf, 46,000...

Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

I'll chime in again as well. The exhaust pipe can be routed outside through a convenient hole nissan left in the trunk. I attached it to a tow hook in the passenger rear side. (Paul, would you mind posting my photos if you still have them, the ones I emailed you of my install) thanks. I tried...

Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

Mine is drawing air from the inside the car. You could probably drill a small diameter hole for the intake tube, and extend the hose to the front of the vehicle, securing it under the plastic

Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

Yes, it has a small fan, that serves two functions I think. It sucks cold air in and blows it overy the heat exchanger and helps rid of gases through the exhaust.

Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

It runs on diesel, but I have mixed it with kerosine last night and it runs the same. I have also put an old 12v car battery next to the heater and connected it with clamps. After using it for a whole week, it did not show any loss in power after hooking it up to a charger. The percentage...

Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

Paulsp, I have never used this website before and am not really sure how to upload the photos to it. It seems that the link has to be posted , they can't be uploaded. If you send me your email , I can email you the photos. I placed it directly over the hole in the trunk, you will see the...

Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

The project is completed. I'm currently driving around testing it. I purchased a Chinese clone, 5kw diesel heater. I've been driving so far for about 45 minutes, and the heater works AMAZING. It is very quiet, odor free and puts out a TON of heat. Maybe even too much, it gets pretty hot on...

Installing diesel parking heater in Leaf's trunk

I looked at the trink area of my 2012 leaf and noticed there is a hole, plugged by a rubber plug. It should perfectly fit an exhaust pipe, from a diesel heater, that I am planning on securing in the trunk. I was going to sell my leaf with the thought of upcoming winter, and dreading being cold...
