Checking in to say that this worked for me and it was an easy upgrade. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. This was one of the annoying parts of the leaf!

It sounds like he may have all of the wiring (including charging ports) from the donor car. Those would be rated for 6kw / DC Fast. Doing a direct swap out of those would also prevent having to take apart the PDU - at the cost of having to remove the existing wiring and hook up the new wiring...
