Someone on the internet is claiming that if you ever see the 3rd charging indicator light b\nking while not plugged in that this means the car is topping off the 12V battery. The claim is that this information is in the manual.
I highly doubt this as it would mean the car has to 1. be...
My wife missed an important meeting today due to this happening. She had the battery at 14 miles or so, and plugged into a ChargePoint L2 charger. She used the ChargePoint card to set things up as usual and plugged in. The first light blinked, indicating that it was charging.
She came back 40...
Did it sound like a notification sort of sound or like some accidental sound? In other words, was the car intentionally indicating something to you. e.g. did it sound like the "door open" or "lights on" chime, or did it sound like some sort of capacitor buzzing or something unintentional like that?
Sounds very similar to the issue I had. The telematics unit has a flaw and it will fail to connect to the server so it will just keep trying over and over. This drains the battery over night, even a fully charged, brand new battery. Then in the morning you turn your car on and the car recharges...
I had a royal fight with my Nissan dealership. This is the third time (or fourth? losing track...) bringing the car in for the same issue where the TCU drains the 12v battery and I refused to come get my car until they did something about it.
They finally conceded to have a Nissan engineer...
Thank you for this. This lines up exactly with my experience. Really frustrating that there is a definite problem and they won't fix it. I wonder if I go in and have my 12V battery warranty replaced every time it happens if they'll eventually give me a new TCU.
Actually, that sounds like more...
For those suggesting I replace it:
I'm going to the dealership to have it replaced asap. I would replace it myself but the dealer installed it and the battery is still under warranty. Plus, I want them to tell me why this random draining keeps happening.
Sorry I didn't answer this: I...
I just did this and the car seems to be working normally again.
However, in the process of disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, a series of VERY STRANGE events occurred!
1. The 12V charger/tender has been plugged in since Friday and all day today has been reading 14.4ish volts, I...
I tried connecting to another car and it made no difference.
I don't think the battery is dead since all accessories work normally--radio, doors, horn, etc. Just won't go to drive mode.
OBDII adapter is being overnighted right now. Will resetting the codes cause any potential problems with...
My 12V battery was dead on Friday morning. (This happens in my Leaf. No, I didn't leave it plugged in not charging or sitting for days.)
I have a smart battery tender/charger so I plugged it in and let it bring the battery back up. It's still charging now (about 40 hours later) but close to...
It isn't draining when the maintainer is attached--however the battery is badly damaged at this point so I think that is why I'm seeing the EV system warning light. The maintainer is usually charging at 14.x volts and .9ish amps in the morning when I unplug to go to work.
Not sure, but every...
I (like so many others here) am having nonstop problems with my 12v battery. (Batteries, actually, as the dealer's go-to solution is to just replace it without fixing the underlying problem. :( ) I've taken it in to the dealership several times and they monitored it but were unable to find any...
No my manual doesn't say that, it's just what a ton of people have said on this forum, across several threads regarding the 12V system. After reading it enough times I've just accepted it as a fact, since no one ever questioned that until now. Now I'm not sure!!
My 12V battery was dead this morning. No problem, I had purchased a Suaoki chrger / maintainer (this one) for just this purpose. However, it is auto-reading it as a 6V motorcycle battery! It is charging at about 1 amp and about 7 volts.
Whenever I open a door or try to turn the car on, I hear a...
