I got tired of people saying electric cars were expensive:

So I made a video talking about the Leaf, of course, since I still have my 2011. Since 2014, with a wty pack, still have about 16kwhr. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rA2V52lIwYY If anyone wants to expand on particular bits, please add the time code to your comment like: "3:12 He forgot to...

My Defrost / Staying Warm on minimum battery use in Winter. Video:

I made a video with my staying warm / defrost strategy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnjr--CNL9k (Will edit this if I figure out how to use the youtube tag. Someone comment that if they know.) Here's an attempt to embed. Can't make that work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnjr--CNL9k...

    CR2032 fits the key fob

I wrote it up here: http://rcbullock.blogspot.com/2015/12/nissan-leaf-key-fob-remote-battery-and.html Be nice to not have to replace it as often.

Is Nissan setting up a bad trend with buyout strategy?

I have mixed feelings about my 2011 SL I got for $16K with 8100 miles on it about 1 year and a half ago. Cheap at the time. I've saved a ton of gas in the 27000 miles I put on it, figuring I save 4.6 cents a mile on gas vs. electricity alone. At least. $1242. Plus $50 on inspections, 4.5 oil...

Cheap Portable EVSE - Less than $400

Depends on the EVSE. The EVSE Upgrade version allows this. On another note, I'm selling my recently serviced EVI unit. CHEAP. RUN, DON'T WALK, from EVI. In my opinion.

Concept tire could charge electric cars.

Shows how much you know! When the universe's total energy drops closer to zero, you'll be glad to reclaim as much as you can! This will be around the same time Apple runs out of money.

    Heat Accessories

I found a couple I like. The Roadpro 180W mini-heater and the Amazon Basics heated cushion. Disclaimers and warnings and full writeup per usual: http://rcbullock.blogspot.com/2015/03/nissan-leaf-winter-heating-save-your.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; And yes, they do draw...

Adding a 12 volt outlet to rear of center console w/ pics

I reused a couple of cropped pics and referenced your guide when I had to repair the socket itself. http://rcbullock.blogspot.com/2015/03/nissan-leaf-cigarette-lighter-power.html Fuse didn't blow but it stopped working. Thermal and/or mechanical failure.

    App use with Leaf off?

Apologies if this is covered. I looked a few mins and could not find it. Mine IIRC used to work well with the Leaf off. Now, it won't stay connected but killing the app can get a connection but it will eventually go flaky. Is this supposed to work? Seems like it used to work well. Same phone...

A middle ground between 110V trickle charging and 240V L2:

Sure, I've actually looked at that adapter for myself since I already have an RV. I kinda sort of want to tow the Leaf somewhere with it. And my generator (which should be good on the freq) would more than drive the 3.3Kwhr leaf. Mine's 5.5 IIRC if I had to use it. I have a 50A outlet on my RV...

    DIY seat heaters

Not as pretty but the heated seat pad I've been pretty happy with is in my Leaf store below. $20 ish.

A middle ground between 110V trickle charging and 240V L2:

That might all be true, but I certainly don't recall seeing it in the terms I wrote up. All that info is scattered about, IMHO. I went right to 240V, but I might have taken a different path had my finances been different, the circuit run had been different, and if I had known about the EVSE...

A middle ground between 110V trickle charging and 240V L2:

That is part of the article. I'm well aware of it. The point was that no one I can recall has ever mentioned the positive aspects of the middle ground that may be available at zero interim cost when going from 110V to 240V.

A middle ground between 110V trickle charging and 240V L2:

http://rcbullock.blogspot.com/2015/02/nissan-leaf-110v-charging-heres-middle.html I wrote this up today. It's about 40% faster than the OEM 110V EVSE solution and adds usability to the Leaf. I have not seen this mentioned as a sort of middle ground solution: 16A 110V charging and how to go...
