Power window auto-up

Sun Apr 10, 2011 3:14 pm

Just making sure I'm not crazy, the car has a two stage button in each direction for the power drivers power window, correct? Up, auto-up, down, auto-down?

My auto-up stopped working.
Auto down still works.
Very odd.

I pulled the 12V power today. Wonder if that did something..

My Prius did the same thing when the 12v battery is removed. You just have to manually power it all the way up and all the way down (not using auto) and then it will reset the switch and allow auto. I don't know for sure that that is how it works on the Leaf, but should be a simple test to see if it resets that way.

my Mercedes did the same thing. I called my mechanic and he told me it was related to disconnecting the battery. It reset itself. Probably the same on the Leaf.

Mine did that too after pulling the battery. As per the owners manual, just pull the switch up and hold it for three seconds after it reaches the top to reset it. That worked for me. :D

Wow, never would have guessed to do that, but it fixed it! Thanks!

Since the issue seems to be resolved, I'm going to try to hijack the thread. I hadn't read the window section of the owner's manual before, and find myself dismayed. It seems clearly to be saying that if I have passengers, and want to be able to let them control their own windows, but want to roll my window up or down, I have to:
  1. Push the lock button
  2. Push or pull my own window button
  3. Push the lock button again.

Is this for real?

f I have passengers, and want to be able to let them control their own windows, but want to roll my window up or down, I have to:

I suspect you meant if you *don't* want everyone to control their own windows.

If the lock is unlocked, everyone can control their own windows.

If it's locked then no one can control their own windows, and you can't control any window except your own. If you want to move someone elses window, you have to unlock first.

Just to elaborate, you CAN control your own windows even when the others are locked.

You mean your own window (no S)

I tried it before I posted, and naw that you posted I tried again to be sure. If the window lock button is pressed, the only window that can be moved from *any* controls is the drivers window. The driver cannot move the rest of the windows nor can the passengers.
