Ok chaps, this is probably it!

I went out to see the Premium package car today. Here's some screenshots from LeafSpy and a dashboard shot:

If anyone has any comments on the data shown, I'd be most appreciative.

I managed to pair my phone with the BT. Is it possible to play music via BT, or is it just for making/receiving phone calls?

Everything else seemed to check out.

looks good. 28k+ kilometers, ZERO quick charges, and an 87% SOH. the cell balance is a little off with one of the cells, but you won't miss it for your use case.

you'll probably lose your first capacity bar by the fall of next year.

if they're really going to discount $700 for the charger, then get the discount. you can get a slower 3.3kw evse for less than half that price.

my 2-bits.

What year is it, again? 87% SOH is ok, but I'd expect to find a '14 or newer Leaf with more capacity left, in Canada. Maybe most of your used cars are from the US West?

Yeah, that figures. I see it's a '13, so verify that the build date is AFTER March of 2013, just in case there was a BMS reset weeks ago. The date is in the vehicle history report, and on the driver's side door sill sticker.

The salesman told me the battery warranty was good until Dec 21st 2021. Would that indicate a build date of Dec 2013?

No, because the warranty starts with the "in service" date (the start of ownership or a lease), not the date of manufacture. If they offer a carfax report, that will have it. You can also put the VIN into free services like this one:

https://www.vehiclehistory.com/vehicle/land.php

@jadrake I'm guessing this is the LEAF you looked at:

https://www.morreynissanburnaby.com/en/pre-owned-inventory/nissan/leaf/2013-nissan-leaf-id5706435

If so, then this is the CarFax:

https://reports.carproof.com/main?id=fVF9NP58rk+P94qBK+wdl/LB2wMI786Q

And here is the original sales sticker too:

https://1drv.ms/b/s!AlrxIGuTWy0vuVmbXM3rOHIVsv_z

At this point, any 2013 you look at will likely be close to losing the first capacity bar, so the battery pack on that LEAF is about average. Expect to get about 125 km range in summer on average and worse in heavy rains. Range gets even worse when we get sub-zero temps but fortunately we're lucky in Vancouver that we don't get many of those ;)

Year/Make/Model: 2013 NISSAN LEAF S

The Carfax report calls it an S while the dealerships call it an SV, and it seems to have Premium. Likely the wrong report. The Canadian history also shows an S. I'm GUESSING that the dealership got the VIN wrong. It's a shame the VIN isn't in the listing. Hmmm...

I did the VIN lookup on the CPO website and generated a PDF, see my previous post. The original sales sticker shows it is a 2013 SV Premium.

Doesn't seem to have the QC port. For in town driving, not a necessary item. Are you OK with this?

Battery is fairly normal shape.

So, I've decided to go for it. Thanks so much to all who've helped and guided me through this task! You're all stars.

My next post will be "what next?", so if you're up for helping, please leap in with advice.

My final question on this post is this: I've declined their fast charger, as it was CAN$700 and I'm pretty sure I can get cheaper. Any recommendations? I'd like it with a plug on, rather than tails, and will get an electrician to put a socket outside my (rental) house.

Which chargers are good value for money?

Any 3.3kw evse should be fine for your needs (especially if you have to pay demand fees as well by the utilities - alaska residents have this). This home depot one is an example of what to avoid though (the plug is a nema 5-15 instead of a nema 5-20): https://www.homedepot.com/p/Lectron-240-Volt-16-Amp-Level-2-EV-Charger-with-21-ft-6-4-m-Extension-Cord-J1772-Cable-and-NEMA-5-15-Plug-EVCharge5-15/305916163

It doesn't include the charge pack, so no CHADEMO, but the SV trim includes a 6.6 kW OBC. So, a level 2 EVSE that will allow full rate charging (240v x 27.5A) makes the most sense...

@jadrake If you are looking for an inexpensive, portable EVSE that does full rate charging and allows for charging at RV parks too, then it's hard to go wrong with the Zencar 32A portable EVSE. Details in my signature below, or IM me if you want to drop by my place to see the Zencar EVSE I bought, as well as the adapter cable I created for RV park charging.
