My 2018 does not charge on AV DCFC. It fails during voltage test. Works on other DCFCs so wondering if anyone else has seen this?

Interestingly enough, I had LEAF Spy running and it started freaking out during handshake attempt. Then that night, I charged on L2 and got up to battery stats SIGNIFICANTLY higher than previous full charge, of which I had a dataset of one. Now, I expected a bump in stats since full charge #1 provided only 38.1 kwh available and i was expecting 38.5 but this much??

that is too much.

2nd pix; LEAF Spy log. Notice over 8 KW of regen at SOC of 99%? How does that happen?

So current plan is to attempt another charge at AV today with LEAF Spy trace running to see if can get any insight but it appears now that AV is simply not compatible with new LEAF or vice versa...

To be clear, Dave's talking about AeroVironment CHAdeMO chargers like av.png. They're common on the http://www.westcoastgreenhighway.com/electrichighway.htm in WA and OR. I've never seen one in person as they don't seem common at all in California.

Product page at https://www.evsolutions.com/product-details/ev-50-public/ev-50. AFAIK, they are not in wide use outside WA and OR.

Outside those two states, most CHAdeMO DC FCs I've heard of and/or seen in the US tend to be the one of these: tall/slim Nissan-branded ones but sometimes w/other branding (https://web.archive.org/web/20130618015922/http://nissanqc.com/), from the likes of BTC Power, ABB, Signet, Chargepoint, Efacec and maybe a few Eatons.

I got the same issue on the 2018 LEAF SL Demo unit we got from the dealer at Quebec city last Friday.

It was only on the 2018 LEAF SL Demo Unit we got from the dealer having that problem.
Problem solved at the dealer.
Now the same LEAF 2018 SL unit is charging on 400V DCFC at Quebec city.
No more issue.

I tried many times on both blue DCFC charging stations (Flo and ElectricCircuit) but nothing happen.
400V DCFC charging station can't start charging the 2018 LEAF Demo unit.

I checked to disable all charging timers I found in order to "enable" quick charge on CHAdeMO protocol.
I hope it was not only a "quick charge enable" setting in the car's menu I forgot to enable.
I will ask Nissan Dealer technician about it Monday morning.
I think they will check Diagnotics on their 2018 LEAF Demo unit.

I hope this issue was only on the 2018 LEAF SL Demo Unit we got from the dealer and
I hope it's not the same for all other 2018 LEAF units (about 5 to 10 units of 2018 LEAF already been sold in Quebec province this week ... I can tell on Social Media FaceBook Group)
I hope it's not a new CHAdeMO protocol version Nissan made in their 2018 Nissan LEAF ...

Please let me know if you found or solve the problem, I will let you know if I found the problem on my side too !
Best Regards.

there is no such thing as a QC charger timer so nothing to disable

Do you know who the manufacturer is of the incompatible stations in question? Have Plugshare URLs for them?

FWIW, "AV DCFC" probably means nothing to those outside WA and OR, as AV stands for AeroVironment in this context and their CHAdeMO chargers are not commonly found outside WA and OR. I've never physically seen one myself.

It would appear that AV also has a presence in the area.

Can you provide an address of where you tried and failed to get a charge?

AV Chargers? Or at least has evnet.avinc.com addy?

Cbelange mentioned Flo and ElectricCircuit.

https://lecircuitelectrique.com/charging-stations-and-rates and https://flo.ca/on-the-go both show DC FCs of an unfamiliar manufacturer to me.

yeah, misread their contractor bids. AV only did 240

it was ABB and addEnergie that did Fast charge.

Thanks!

https://addenergietechnologies.com/en/smartdc/ it is. Cbelange: Can you confirm?

I've started http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=25372 to report/discuss '18 Leaf CHAdeMO compatibility problems. Sounds like we have at least 3 makes w/reported issues, so far.

We did determine your unit is made by different manufacturer so at this point it would appear to be AV only

I just took my 2018 Leaf out to Newport, OR and tried the AV charger there - and it worked! I wasn't expecting it to, and didn't need it to, but it did. I'm hoping that means they've fixed the problem across the network...

Well that is good news but also was expecting email to confirm fix. Oh well, I guess 1 out of 2 will have to do. Could also be a rollout update that much be done locally?

I will test the local stations for a change...

Well, notsomuch - I tried the AV charging station out by the freeway here (that didn't work a couple of weeks ago) and it still errors. One difference is that the one out at Newport that worked still had the old lever-style connector, while the one that doesn't work has the new push button shove-and-go connector, so maybe the broken-ness is in the newer models? I called them and they didn't have an update, but knew about the issue, so presumably they're working on it...

hmmm? interesting. the old style handles were a disaster! The new ones work much better... on my 2016!
