I am wondering on buying a Leaf 2015 model. If you can answer any of my questions or have more information the issue please reply I would be greatful.

Whats the differences in car set up regards to leaf's that are sold in warm places like Florida and other places in cold North like Philadelphia and New York?

What needs to be installed if buying a car in Florida, Texas and similar to make the battery work in the cold weather without losing so much of the range? insulation, heather wiring around battery, coupe heather or anything else.

Is it possible to order this things original or unoriginal and let a carshop install it? what would be the cost of the products and the installation work itself.

Can you update your location info via your user name in the upper right > User Control Panel > Profile tab? That way, we don't need to ask in future posts/threads or do sleuthing to deduce it.

What are your daily driving needs in terms of miles? How much city vs. highway? Will you have the ability to charge at your work/destinations?

I'm not aware of any changes for warm vs. cold regions starting from model year 2012. Per https://www.autoblog.com/2011/07/19/2012-nissan-leaf-higher-price-tag-standard-equipment/, CWP became standard w/model year 2012.

http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=4404 has some details on the battery warmer.

However, with 2016 and 2017 model years, you needed to get the SL trims to get the rear heated seats. See http://nissannews.com/en-US/nissan/usa/presskits/us-2016-nissan-leaf-press-kit and http://nissannews.com/en-US/nissan/usa/presskits/us-2017-nissan-leaf-press-kit under Specs tab.

I'm not aware of anything official from Nissan to achieve what you want.

It's doubtful there's any room around the pack for insulation. https://web.archive.org/web/20120510121338/http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=3896 was a look under the '11.

Folks did insulate pipes for the crap, slow to heat, power pig '11 and '12 water-block heater. See http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=15392. http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6892 was discussion on speculation on why they used that. '13+ Leafs don't use that stupid water-block heater.

Perhaps something similar can be done on '13+ Leafs? Maybe?

You're going to had significant range reduction in winter in cold weather, esp. if it's below freezing and there's snow on the ground.

Thanks for reply.

Thats very reasuring if CWP became a standard from 2012. I assume regards to CWP there will be no difference in which state I buy the car from, as long it is 2012 or newer? So I can go to Florida to buy, just as well as New York, I assume that a car that has been driven in warmer areas has less tall on the battery.

Regards to CWP is it correct to assume that the heather in the coupe also are the same no mather state it i sold?

I really, REALLY wish that people who talk into their phones to post would then proofread the posts before sending them here. I for one have no bloody clue what this person is asking up there.

The heater in the car will vary depending on Model. The S only has a resistance heater. The SV and SL also have a heat pump.

The Cold Weather Package will be the same in all cars from 2013 forward. There are heaters in the pack to try and keep it from freezing.

To ensure the best chance for a battery in good health, only purchase a vehicle that comes from a colder climate, manufactured May 2013 or later. Your best bet would probably be a 2015 SV or SL from Washington or Oregon, or Canada.

That's APRIL of 2013 or later, not May. Cars built in April of that year are fine. I drive one.

Are all cars built in April fine? No one knows the exact date the newer packs were slipped into production. He is looking for a car to export from the US to Europe. I stand by the recommendation made.

All 2012 and later LEAFs have CWP standard. A few late production 2011s have the cold weather package. 2013 and later SV and SL models have heat pumps in addition to the resistance heater used by itself in the S models. I would not recommend a 2011 or 2012 even with CWP because the hot water tank heater system wastes a lot of energy and significantly reduces range in cold weather.

Great. You alone know that there are some issues with April build cars, despite our never having seen a bad one here. Since we haven't, it is reasonable to assume that the change went in to effect April 1 2013. Maybe even late March, since it's more likely that good packs in March builds would escape our attention.

I asked you a question about April cars. You keep harping on all of April as being fine, with no clear evidence to back it up, other than a lack of complaints here. Your assumption may be correct, but would you stake your reputation on all April cars being fine? Since this person is looking for a car to export, May 2013 or later is the more reasonable recommendation.

Had you put it that way, as an extra precaution for an export car, I wouldn't have commented. As it is, too many people just forget the correct month for the cutoff. There could be a handful of April builds with Canary packs, but at this point it's unlikely, because we've seen so many March builds with rapid bar loss, and no Aprils outside of Hot climates.

I didn't believe the qualifier was necessary, since the OP stated he was looking to export. I did state that in the message you responded to, but apparently that was overlooked. April has always been regarded as the cut-off date for Canary packs, but no one knows the exact date the change occurred. Mine was built in January 2013, and I was fortunate enough to get a battery replacement under warranty. Knowing what I know now, my current recommendation for anyone looking would be a 2015 SL or SV, which is what I recommended as the best option to the OP.
