OK, I'm feeling dumb... I purchased the Honda wiper insert refills referenced in this thread but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get the old inserts out of the blades? Help!

Simply pull out from the end of the wiper. Takes a bit of force.

I had to change my rear blade yesterday, before The Blizzard. The rubber insert was hanging off of it. I had a new blade on hand, and had tried to do it once, but the instructions I got here on how to remove the old blade weren't quite enough. Happily, the instructions that came with the new blade were good, showing the angle you have to pull the blade to in order to get it off. I foolishly didn't note the blade's position first, but was able to deduce that from the way the blade is constructed. So it was off & on in about 5 minutes.

So what blade did you end up using and where did you get it?
Thats the same thing that happened to my rubber part, it was just hanging by a thread. I tried to find one locally but finally ended up just purchasing one from Amazon which worked just fine.

I finally needed new wiper blades for my 2015 Leaf, and found that the Mighty Visao blades come with a perfect offset connector that makes them look and work just like the O.E. blades. The driver side is part number SGV26 and the passenger side is SGV16.

Confirmed that these Honda parts from my local Honda dealer fit my '13 Leaf just fine.

I tried calling my local Nissan dealer's parts counter and asked if they sold only the refills. Answer was no. So, Honda dealer it was. The refills were obviously cheaper than buying the whole blade assembly at a Nissan dealer.

Just to add my two cents. I replaced all of the wiper blades and so far so good:

Rear:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FZWNUM8
(Came all the way from Latvia!) This is an *exact* replacement. Looks identical to the OEM version and is Bosch, so hopefully it will hold up.

Front Driver:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00509ILNY
(Nice silicone blade with the offset mount so it sits just like the original)

Front Passenger:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00509IF5I
(Silicone blade, Amazon says it does not fit, but it does. It sits just like the original)

Love my Leaf!

So... I have 2 SL 2011 and I ordered 2 sets of Honda refills one set per car. I went out to change them on the first car and #$@^^%.

I double check the part number online and yes it is the right numbers. So I pondered a moment, and then went out to the second Leaf.

Yep, the refills work for this car with Mitsuba wiper bracket blade holder, but not the first car that I tried. Well, I have a spare set for the second car now, but I still have to figure out what set I need, and wait for it to ship for the blasted first car. Grrrrr..

These rubber blades that I need are bonded to the metal arch spring and are not just slid in from the end of the bracket.

Just when you think you have life licked, it throws you a curve (wiper). So I decided to get even with it and went out and bought a Tesla. That will teach it a lesson... or me.

Update! Napa Auto Parts I found a 16" for the passenger side part number NPB-16 and drivers NPB-26 on sale $9.99 each. Normally, $17.84 and $21.68. These were wiper bracket holder and blade. Excellent fit and full contact with the windshield! Maybe I should go and buy a second set.

Too late to return the Tesla...

I got some Trico blades that are excellent. The guys at Advance Auto Parts also found a rear blade, as well. The front blades are the curved type, and they have the offset mounts, similar to stock.

Excellent! Advanced Auto Parts would have been my next stop. That is good to know!

Before I found this thread, I ordered a Trico 18-260 Flex Universal Beam wiper blade from Amazon because I had heard elsewhere that it was good replacement. Now I'm not too sure since others have stated that the beam wipers don't sit flat on the windshield. I haven't opened it yet so I can send it back. What is the consensus on replacing them, the Honda inserts or ?
This thread doesn't really give a definitive answer.

Since you have a '13 SV and I have one, as well, as I posted at http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=489698#p489698, the Honda inserts fit the blades on my used Leaf fine.

I don't understand why people are worried about what wiper blade to use... There is nothing special about the wiper blades on this car. they are like any other car.

I just use any blade that is the right size. I get them from Costco for $8 each, and only buy them when they are on sale for 2 for $8. You do not buy replacement inserts. You should get the entire blade and mechanism together. The rear is an odd size. I think 15 inches, and I get them from amazon for about $10 delivered....

As some folks noted earlier in the thread and elsewhere, some of them don't fit properly or have other issues.

Let us know the exact model, model and Costco part number. Do they fit properly and lay flat on the windshield?

I did.

Why? To spend more $ and be more wasteful in terms of $ and materials? It was much cheaper buying the Mitsuba inserts from a Honda dealer than buying entire blade assemblies from my Nissan dealer, since they didn't sell the inserts/refills. And, I know the blade I have is correct.

If memory serves, from the markings on the inserts on my car, they were just like the ones from Honda and almost certainly made by Mitsuba.

For the rear window, I can confirm that the Honda HR-V rear wiper, part 76622-T7A-003 is an exact fit for the 2015 Leaf, provided you still have the original metal strips. These Honda refills will give you an exact fit for the rubber inserts only, reusing the metal strips:

Driver side 650mm - 76622-STK-A02

Passenger side 400mm - 76632-STK-A02

Rear 260mm - 76622-T7A-003

All of these are available on Amazon if you search for the Honda P/N.

Good to know, previously there is no exact Honda rear wiper that fits perfectly, my local dealer always just trim it for me.

Thank you! I can confirm this fits perfectly on my '13 SV. The metal strips fit perfectly in the grooves of the above Honda part.

I had to bend the original rubber piece and metal strips a fair amount to remove them.

My local Honda dealer didn't have the part in stock (would have to order them) so I ordered them from Amazon (sold by another Honda dealer) and they were cheaper at Amazon even w/shipping anyway.

I find this and other threads on the forum re. wiper blade replacement somewhat confusing.

First, some basics:
- the rubber part that contacts the glass is a refill/element when talking about replacing just it and not the whole blade (where applicable)
- blades come in 3 types (traditional metal or composite frame, beam/aero/frameless, hybrid combo. of first two types)
- most beam type wiper blades do not allow for replacing just the element
- replacing either the entire blade or the element (where applicable) requires you to shop carefully to achieve a good outcome
- automakers do not have a standard for windshield curvature so aftermarket blades aren't guaranteed to perform well
- from 2011, the front blades on the Leaf use an offset connector to allow the wiper arm to be closer to the glass
- the size and shape of the Leaf windshield did not change over the years even though blade part nos. did
- front blades are 26" and 16", rear blade is 10"

This thread should have been titled, "Nissan Leaf Wiper Blade refills: Part Numbers and Compilation from Forum"

To complete the picture, a compilation of a Nissan Leaf Wiper Blade O.E. part nos. seems useful.

Given that it has become increasingly difficult to find refills for traditional blades at dealers or elsewhere (with the exception of PIAA and some others), and accepting that beam type blades have become almost the new standard, the following is a summary of original equipment blades through the years.

Front Driver side:
288903NA0A up to Apr. 2012
288903NA0C from Apr. 2012
288903NF0A from Dec. 2012
288903NF2B from Nov. 2016

Front Passenger side:
288903NA1A up to Apr. 2012
288903NA1B from Apr. 2012
288903NF1A from Dec. 2012
288903NF2A from Dec. 2016

Rear:
287901LA0A
287903NF0A from Dec. 2012

Part nos. taken from Nissan dealer online parts site - there may be errors

The F in a part no. indicates a frameless or beam type wiper I believe. This did start when production switched from Japan to U.S.?

Some or all Nissan dealers now offer a lower-priced hybrid replacement blade that fits all years with the following part not.:
Front driver side: B889UHS26JNW
Front pass. side: B889UHS16JNW
Rear: B87Y3RB10JNW
Don't know who makes these, but the leading B might be for Bosch and the JN indicates Made in Japan (wild guess).

CONCLUSION
The hybrid replacement blades from the dealer are probably a good choice as they look sleek, perform like traditional blades (which they are under the outer covering), and can potentially have refills fitted when necessary if you are resourceful.
The next challenge is determine if there is an aftermarket blade widely available at common retail outlets that is identical to these (it could have any number of brand or house-label names on it and still be the same).

Note: hybrid blades can look similar to what has always been called a "winter blade", but more streamlined and lighter.

Perfect! I ordered these from Amazon, received them today and I can confirm they are exact replacement rubber insets on my 2015 Leaf. Reused the original metal strips. I love this forum!
