My initial 2-year lease started April, 2013. The term was:

SV + LED + QC (most popular trims at that time)
$2000 down payment
$170/mo * 23 months (including tax)
$395 disposition fee if necessary
12k/year
Total: $5910 + $395 for two years, or $3,150 per year

So far, I only drove 18,000 miles for 2.5 years.

And, I extended 1-year lease with the same monthly payment and two free month credits. So, April, 2016 will be the final lease month.

The first one-month credit was applied at the first month of the extended year. I believe the other credit will be there at the final month.

Total is $7610 + $395 for three years, or $2670 per year.

(1) Is there anyone who gets the second lease extension promotion? I don't want to buy this car, but may extend one more year.

(2) I heard that because my total lease is 36 months, I'm eligible to apply CVRP $2500 rebate program. Anyone who tried to get this rebate after the extension?

No, you won't be eligible. See http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=420998#p420998.

They've also added verbiage to https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/eng/faqs to indicate that you won't be eligible. Under " How do I know if I can apply for a rebate?" there's now "Retain ownership of the vehicle for a minimum of 30 consecutive months* immediately after the vehicle purchase or lease date. Original lease terms of at least 30 months are required for program eligibility."

I want to share my good fortune here, especially as this forum was the source of it. After spending almost 1/2 hour on Hold with NMAC (I never do that, but today I used my cell phone and did other stuff at the same time) I got through to a Nissan end of lease specialist who told me, before I could even state my reason for calling "I can answer your question instantly." They are indeed extending Leaf leases by 24 months from the end of the original lease. I'm still not sure if it's only the 2013 Leaf, but I got the impression that it may include other years as well. In my case, I just got an extension until June of 2017, at the $159 a month ($149 original payment, plus $10 sales tax) I'm paying on my current extension. That's great news for me! Instead of scrambling to try to finagle an overpriced lease this Spring, I can wait until the 107 mile range 2016 SV is the car they want to clear out, instead of the one you must beg and bribe (heavily, with huge down payments) to lease. This is a very smart move on the part of Nissan, as it will keep a lot of people like me in the ranks of Leaf drivers.

The number to call, BTW, is 1-800-854-3310. That was given me by the first helpful Customer Rep, in case I was disconnected while being transferred to the EOL specialist.

A few months ago I asked NMAC about extending the lease on our 2013 SV for a second year and was told that they no longer offer extensions. Based on this post, however, I will try for a second extension. It was a 24 month lease, and we got a one-year extension last May. Extending for another year would be a good deal. Thanks for the tip!

For those of you with '13s that are leased, what discounts off residuals is NMAC offering these days? $5K? $6K? Higher?

What's the speculation as to what it might be come Spring of '17?

In Nissan's infinite wisdom... they've REDUCED the discount. It was $6500 last summer, but apparently used prices have come up and they've reduced the discount to $5000. They do not seem eager at all to keep you in the car nor get you in a new one.

Hi- looks like a lucky day for me. I called up 1-800-854-3310 number and was on with a lease specialist in 3 min.
I asked him options for my end of lease for 2013 Leaf (expiring first week of March). He said there are three options 1)Purchase and right now special is going with $6000 discount which will be till end of month and so I can think about it 2)extend the lease upto by a year, it will be month-month contract. I am in WA so price will remain same as current lease. 3)Return.
He was super nice. Said I have time and can think. I told him i want to renew the lease. He confirmed sending me some documents which I have to sign and then they will just process the extension.
I was worried about extension reading all the comments. Looks like all the comments helped and made Nissan change their support. Thanks all for providing information here on forums.

That phone number appears to be key. I had tracked it down in December, but when they told me "no more lease extensions" I tossed it. Then I had to to get it again the hard way, so I posted it here near the end of the topic. I'm glad it worked for you. The $6k buyout discount is tempting, but with the warranty ending I think it would have to be $7500, for me.

I can confirm that the phone number is key. I had posted previously about going through the main number and being told no options. I had even received my end-of-lease paperwork and there was no extension offer. I just called the number, picked up after 2 rings, 2 minutes later I am receiving paperwork via email for a 12 month extension. That was easy.

I have a 2013S

I called the 800 number this morning, got a very helpful agent in Texas, and learned that I can extend the lease on my beloved 2012 SL for another year at the same $231/mo. pymt. It was already a 39-month lease, so now it would be a 51-month lease! At 33K, the car has lost two bars, but I don't think the range has gone down that much--I can do 55 freeway miles between quick charges.

Not sure if I'll keep it or not. If I do keep it, I might have a shot at having another two bars disappear between now and 50K, and then go for a warranty battery replacement, and see about buying the car at the end of the extension. Any educated guesses out there about whether or not I'll drop the next two bars within a year?

The first bar went at about 20K, and second went at about 27K. So I might be getting ready to lose #3 at 35K or so. If so, it would seem a foregone conclusion that I'd lose that 4th bar before I hit 50K.

We are at the end of our 39 month lease this month on our 2012.

Called the above number and after a short wait of less than a minute, was connected with a very helpful and friendly agent. Thanks for posting it!

They explained our options were to either extend the lease for another 12 months at the present payment, or take advantage of the lease buyout discount.

The lease extension paperwork was emailed right away while on the phone. If we decide to go that route, it should take a day or two to process. To take advantage of the discount, we would do that through our dealer.

At 37K miles, its down one battery bar, and will probably lose another later this year.

If it wasn't for the battery degradation issue, we would probably buy out the lease, but it's likely we're just going to extend the lease and see what's available by this time next year.

We've really enjoyed driving the LEAF, and even with the current low gas prices would have to think hard to go back to a pure ICE.

I'm wondering what is going to be available for those of us who leased later 2015 and got the higher lease payments with lower residual. It makes no sense for me to extend my lease when it is up next year, but if they knock several thousand off my buy out, it will be a no brainier to do that deal. I'm just worried that since the residual is much lower than the original leases, that offer will go away. Would be my luck.

Wish I would have known this was going to happen in December when I called and Nissan said "no extensions". I would have kept my 2013SV rather than turn it in. I got a 2016 Volt and have to say I wish I had my LEAF back.

I came very close to buying a 2015 SV for a not so great price. The only reason I didn't was the car turned out to be damaged. A very close call! Nissan is being irresponsible with these month to month radical changes in policy.

Thanks! I just called and was told this extension offer will expire at the end of the month and is for a maximum of 24 months total. As we had already extended for 18 months in the past, our new end date will be 11/16/2016 instead of 5/16/16 on our 2012 SL purchased 11/16/2012. This is one of those $99/month leases that came with a large down payment. :D

I am in the middle of my 2 year lease extension for my '13 Leaf SV (no QC) Called NMAC today to get the payoff quote. They are offering a $6k discount.

The crazy part is that the payoff amount is $2k more than the exact same used car at a dealership WITH 10,000 miles less than mine AND the QC.

I got a 2016 SV after turning in a 2013 SV in December...no regrets! Best decision I could have made. Leaf is once again the range champion in the budget EVs..the 107 mile range and standard QC port feels like a huge improvement over the 2013 model in quelling range anxiety.

The battery remains stressed less due to its longer single charge range..and the standard QC with No Charge to Charge program already makes it a 200 mile day to day EV.

I reviewed the 2016 Volt, and loved it too. It is huge step up from the previous Volt. Enjoy your ride! Aple CarPlay is a standard feature on all Volts..wish Nissan had done that to the Leaf.

I just called since our '13 lease is up in June. They said there was a discount of $6,000 off of residual which is up $1,000 from last month, however, I have no interest in buying the car.

I really wanted to know about lease extension possibility. They said that I could make a 12 month extension, which I could cancel at any time during the 12 month period, and I could decide to take the extension option anytime prior to my turn in date.

So, I'll extend and watch was goes on with the Bolt release in December and watch to see if Nissan gives any hard date on the '17 LEAF with 200 mile range.
