Hi there!
I got my Leaf from US insurance auction. It had a minor front impact, though depreciated to 75%. The bottom line is it has 260 GIDs...and single FOB.
Today I brought my Leaf to dealer for the second key prohrammig. they ordered a FOB for me. They could not receive PINs or similar numbers, had to wait "the main country Nissan importer" to give the PINs or whatever. They could not do that in regular way since the car is for US market but they are able to convert (or retrieve?) PINs just for EU cars only (I am in Ukraine).
At the end of the day (litterally at 9pm) they notified me that the immo was reset and the car does not see neither old FOB, nor new one. Ok, the car is now stuck at dealer.
I read this topic and found that the BCM PIN conversion is rather straight forward. Not more diffcult than cracking a software having a keygen.
They will do other tries to reprogram my immo tomorrow (Saturday). I just write this post for basically two reasons:
- as a precausinary for those who wants the second key in EU having a US Leaf. Please verify your dealer can do that beforehand; and
- if there are any thoghts of how can I assist the dealer (huh?). Does it make sence finding a friendly dealer at US for PIN (or BCM or whatever number) conversion/acquire? Does the SMART card do the conversion or do they need a database?
May be too many questions, And yes, the dealer wanted to charge me $20 for programming...not the best money to value ratio though.
Please help. Or I will drive the other day on gasoline
Next day update: now buttons work. Though the immo does not see the FOB.
The other day update: my dealer finally programmed both keys. The trick was to enter my Leaf as EU Leaf, but not the US one into Consult-III (according to manager).
