Guess we have to wait another day before we can start waiting another six months for delivery.

Why 6 months?
Right, won't be six months. Cars will get delivered in a couple of months.

Not sure if the article is correct about production of MY 2012 starting after Labor Day, but if true it will probably be 3 - 4 months before delivery.

2012 Nissan Leaf: More Standard Equipment, Higher Price

Production of 2012 Nissan Leaf electric cars will begin after Labor Day, with deliveries expected two to three months after that.

I'm in GA and I contacted my local dealership over the weekend. The sales manager called me back and set up an appointment to meet him on Tuesday.

I contacted him today to confirm the appointment time and to also explain that I haven't received an email from Nissan saying that I can go ahead and order one. He said I would have the information tomorrow. I hope he is right. On Saturday he seemed to know that Tuesday would be the day the process opens up. That's why the appointment was on Tuesday.

I guess we will know soon. I hate this anticipation.

In CA there were ads for $1000 off MSRP and apparently people found deals. Any idea how to find dealers in other states (in my case S FL) who will discount? Also, if you chose to lease do you still try to negotiate a lower payment or cost basis, or is that price just the $369 a month or whatever?

LTL, I am having enough trouble just finding a dealer who has any up to date info on the Leaf at all around here. I'll settle for MSRP, but if I find one lower, I'll certainly let you know!

whatever you do when your order opens: do not RAQ a dealer you have not contacted and make sure they are certified and have access to the dealer dashboard on nna.net (leaf area)

if you send your RAQ to a sleeping dealer you will get no response and lose time.

IMO Nissan should be naming the qualified Leaf specialist when you choose a dealer so you can contact them

calling the store and asking who knows about the "leaf" is an exercise in futility

" sure I will connect you with our finance office for help on your Lease"
"what type of Nissan would you like to Lease?"

I just chatted with Jason at Nissan about why the order info is not yet available under "my account" on the website. He said they are sending the email notifications in batches over the next several days... after getting the notification we'll be able to access the order link.

I was told last week at the Plug-In convention in Raleigh that the batches would be handled in reservation date order - first people to hand over reservation money reserved their place in line ahead of slower people. Just what I was told, but if they are batching them, it makes sense.

Expect it sometime this week...

FYI, my dashboard just opened to RAQ. But my preferred dealer is not listed as "Leaf Certified" even though my contact there says they are - not sure how I'll proceed!

Yeah, dashboard is open but the perferred dealer page is messed up. Says the closest dealer to me is in Bristol TN. I'm on the phone with CS now.

Apparently none of the dealers in NC are enabled in their system. CS is looking into the issue and will call back. I'm guessing this is bug and a problem for all dealers in tier 2. I bet that dealership in Bristol TN gets a ton of RAQs today since they are apparently the closest certified Nissan Leaf dealer in the system to 3 or 4 states that just opened.
