Anyone know how Nissan actually tests a pack for warranty?

There has been much written about losing the 4th capacity bar on the LEAF before the warranty period runs out in order to get a new ("fixed") pack. With 9 bars still left, I am beyond the warranty (100,000 km or 5 years in Canada) as I'm at 141,000 km at 4.5 years. However, the glide path suggested initially by Nissan is 80% at 5 years and 70% at 10 years. According to LeafSpyPro I'm already at below 70% in 4.5 years. So, I asked my dealer how they actually test the pack to see if it is otherwise eligible for warranty replacement, as there is also the 8 year warranty on the pack, in case of "failure" or incorrect functioning. So, how do they determine that? Does any one know? My Service Manager tells me the only test they have is that silly battery test they provide with the one page report that shows the 5 or so categories and you get 1 to 5 stars. Well, I've gotten 5 stars for all categories at every service interval/test. If that is the service department's only test, how can they determine if anything internal is going wrong? If they needed to replace a cell, how would they determine that? My LeafSpyPro seems to give more information that anyone, including the service manager and LEAF-trained techs has seen or know about.

I think you already have the answer.

They don't actually do any testing as far as I've read. They look at the Capacity bars. If there's 8 or less and it's within warranty, you get a new battery.

LeafSpy will give you much more info than Nissan ever will. I would say even most Leaf specialists don't know about LeafSpy.

They also make sure you have all the software updates. One of them changes how the bars work, and if you don't have it, they'll insist you get it, then you have to wait for the bars to drop again.
