Senate Environment and Public Works Chairman John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) introduced legislation (S.3559) to end tax credits for electric vehicles.

The bill amends the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to terminate the credit for new qualified plug-in electric drive motor vehicles and provides for a Federal Highway user fee on alternative fuel vehicles.

The bill has been referred to the Senate Committee on Finance.

I don't see this passing before the election, although I could be wrong. Whether it passes or fails will depend on who is in office next year, which is still TBD.

If this does pass, it will only slow down sales IMO. It seems that EVs are here to stay.

Agreed. Interesting that a senator from Wyoming introduced the bill. I guess they have a lot of coal/oil interests in WY and are trying to protect their turf. Short sighted IMO.
