Let's discuss the various players making li-ion batteries for EVs, PHEVs, hybrids, FCEVs, etc.
One name that caught my attention last night was Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd (CATL). I'd not heard of it until a mention on Bloomberg TV last night.

The graph at https://electrek.co/2018/02/05/catl-china-battery-producer-ipo/ is a bit odd.
BYD has gotten some attention since Warren Buffett has invested in them and they get mentioned at times on places like CNBC and various EV sites since they also sell EVs (including electric buses) and PHEVs, mostly in China.
Seems like in the US press, I only tend to hear about Tesla/Panasonic, LG Chem and Samsung SDI. AESC pretty much doesn't get mentioned except by Nissan and those who follow Nissan. I wasn't aware of Guoxuan High-Tech, Microvast nor Optimum Battery. Tianjin Lishen is certainly not a household name but sounded familiar. Apparently, they were the supplier to defunct Coda.

Some Googling also turned up articles like these on CATL:CATL, which also supplies Nissan Motor Co., Hyundai Motor Co. and BMW AG, last year overtook Panasonic as the world’s largest supplier of EV batteries by sales thanks to increasing domestic demand.
