We have read completely through the Navigation owners manual and could find nothing about setting up the RSS feeds and Google maps routing. In fact we still don't know where the Carwings website is located. We thought it was https://www.nissanusa.com/owners but once we log in there appears to be no settings for these options at all. Documentation is sorely lacking. Any help regarding usage of these options would be greatly appreciated.

No setup necessary.
Sending a location from Google Maps to Carwings for your car to read ... is a default function.

On many Google Maps, locate any spot, click Send, chose Car, Nissan, and supply your LEAF's ID (as when you login to the Owners site. This sends that location to Carwings, for your car. Carwings will hold 6 locations.

In the car, select Carwings, read Google locations from Carwings, and while one is being read to you, select Pause. That is the non-obvious trick.

Then, Save the location or use it immediately as a destination.

I think the url you list, the owners portal, is a good starting point. I get there from https://www.nissanusa.com/owners/vehicles#<VVVV> where <VVVV> is the last four digits of my VIN. It filled that in for me when I logged into the owners portal.

First you have to click the tab to open your car's status. And then it's easy to miss the button on the bottom of the car status screen for Carwings:
