Howdy folks,
I have a 2011 Leaf that I purchased about six months ago.
I live in San Diego, so I use the AC quite a bit. Even when I’m not using the AC, I like to have the fan blowing on me.
I’m surprised by how much power is lost with just the fan function. In fact, it drops the same amount — between 10-20% — no matter whether the AC is on or not.
Is this a typical characteristic? I’ve seen topics on the fan and heater, but not on this.
Don’t know if this is relevant, but the battery is pretty used up.... down to six bars.
I appreciate any help.

Yep, it's the heater.

Here are three DIY ways to keep the heater turned off. I've implemented #2 myself for my 2012:

Yes I purchased Thor's $25 heater mod switch(shipped from Norway) and it works like a champ. I can now run the fan on my '12 Leaf in the cold without having my power sucking heater come on :)
Pretty easy DIY install but you do need to take part of the dash apart and I drilled a ~1/2" hole through the plastic under the steering wheel. IMO this mod is entirely necessary for colder climates and a pre '13 Leaf.
