I've been looking at used Nissan Leafs for purchase, but I also did some math and a new 2016 seems like it might be an even better purchase.

I live in the San Joaquin valley, which provides an additional $3,000 for the purchase of a new Leaf. California has it's Clean Vehicle rebate of $2,500, and of course the federal $7,500. Program links:

If my math is right, I can deduct $13,000 from the out-the-door price for a new Leaf. From various posts online, it seems possible to get the price below $28,000 with dealer financing, which means ~$14,000 for a new Leaf with a longer range.

I've seen someone mention that the Clean Vehicle rebate was temporarily out of funds. Did the legislature fund it again, or does it remain kaput? Is there a similar issue with the Drive Clean rebate for residents of the SJ valley?

To answer my own Clean Vehicle question:

Currently it has funding.
