Hello all,

Just drove home in my new 2015 S w/ QC and got goosebumps during the drive when I realized during the drive that I'm not burning any gasoline.

I'm coming from a modified BMW M3 (which the EPA classifies as a gas guzzler) so the freeway power is no comparison but better than I expected and the around town zip at least feels better due to the torque. (much easier to stomp the gas vs dealing with launching a stick shift) but then I don't think I'll be doing that many power launches in this car.

Small question, when I first registered a while ago, I apparently put my delivery date even though I never bought a car. How can I change the delivery date?

Upper right next to “RSS Feed”, select "User Control Panel". On left under “Options” select "Profile". Delivery Date is one up from the bottom.

I think you will find EVs perform very well for daily driving. Every car has its charms and vices.

Welcome!

Kinda OT, but the crazy part is that although cars can be subject to the gas guzzler tax, "light trucks" (and ones beyond "light" truck status in terms of GVWR) such as SUVs, pickups, minivans, etc. aren't subject to it. Some of the battering ram of death class SUVs are much worse in FE than "gas guzzler" cars. The ones beyond "light" truck status are even worse.

Background info:

KeiJidosha, thank you!

cwerdna, I didn't know that light trucks were exempt, thanks for the info.

LeftieBiker, we shall see. :p

Thank you all for the welcome!

Yep... it's insanity, given the large sales (below) of BRoD guzzler vehicles compared to the tiny # of "guzzler" cars.

If you download the 2014 datafile at http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/download.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and look at Comb Unadj FE - Conventional Fuel column (column O) of the 1st sheet of vehicles like the Escalade, Suburban, Tahoe or Expedition, you'll see they'd meet the definition of a "guzzler".

https://media.ford.com/content/dam/fordmedia/North%20America/US/2014/09/03/august2014sales.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Unfortunately, BMW doesn't seem to break out M3 sales from 3-series (http://finance.yahoo.com/news/bmw-group-u-reports-august-170200818.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), but I'm sure they're small, just like sales numbers of import sports cars are tiny (http://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2014/09/usa-auto-sales-figures-by-model-august-2014-ytd-sales-figures.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).

I really wish the exemption of "light trucks" or ANY "trucks" from the gas guzzler tax went away.

It is, given that the likes of the F-150 and Chevy trucks are the bestselling vehicles in the US.

On a different note:
Another newbie question, for the new no charge to charge program, is it for 2 years from date of activation? I may not need to use it for a while and I'd like to save the 2 year period to start later.

And if I activate it, do I still have get cards for all the programs if I want to use the chargers that are not part of the no charge to charge program? (i.e. a blink station that is not part of NCTC and therefore is not free)

Thank you.
