I am delighted to be picking up a Nissan Leaf Visia on Tuesday, did a test drive today, 8 miles, up hill then onto a motorway and a bit downhill on dual carriageway, managed to keep the range at 64 miles. I would appreciate any tips for energy saving, my commute is 23 miles there 23 miles back, all motorway, I reckon a steady 55 should be more than adequate

I posted a reply and the site ate it.

Inflate your tires to 40-42psi and drive no faster than 55-60MPH. A/C use isn't very hard on range, but heater use, especially in the S model, is significant. Please post your location and model Leaf in the signature line.

Based on the words he used, it's clear he's in the UK. He posted he has a Visia, which is equivalent to the S here in the states, meaning he doesn't have the heat pump. To the OP, your commute should be easy to achieve as long as you keep it below 65 on the motorway. Don't trust the Distance to Empty gauge on your dashboard -- most of us refer to it as the "Guessometer" (GOM). Better to use the "State of Charge" screen on the LCD in the center of the dashboard or a Smartphone app combined with a Bluetooth or WiFI dongle that plugs into the data port under your steering wheel. Search "LeafSpy" on this forum for more information. Also check out LeafTalk.co.uk for other Leaf drivers in the UK -- this board is a bit US focused (and beyond that, a bit California focused, unfortunately).
