Sorry - just re-read your statements about the Premium package. I assume this includes the front camera beneath the emblem? None of these cars had such a camera.

Correct. No camera, no Premium, including no Bose. And a missing Nav SD card means extra hassle, and about $300USD extra cost.

Time for an update - I went out to see the first Leaf again today, this time with my wife, so she could test drive one. This was the car that was advertised as having a sunroof, but actually did not.

I got a LeafSpy screenshot:

What does this say about the state of the battery? When we arrived it had been fully charged, and was showing 97Km range.

Hmmm, I don't seem to be able to post an image. Anyone know why? It's hosted on Dropbox and using a shared link. The link works directly in a browser.

Here's the link directly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/36gtlwksp8dq4mg/Screenshot_20181016-193233.png?dl=0

Also, the salesman for this car: https://wwwb.autotrader.ca/a/Nissan/LEAF/Burnaby/British+Columbia/5_41162214_/

Says that it has the Bose sound system and all-round cameras. It was dark when I first saw the car and didn't notice a camera on the front charge door. Can anyone tell from looking at the photos whether it is possible that this car is a premium package car?

From what I can see, it has premium. The camera is under the Nissan hamburger on the charging door. The thing the Nissan hamburger is on is thicker on ones w/the camera. See https://tdrvehicles.azureedge.net/photos/import/201810/1618/1740/795f8d2a-e913-496c-9a3e-d4550e1d1a91.jpg?w=800&h=600.

One can barely make out the camera button on the lower bezel of the nav system from https://tdrvehicles.azureedge.net/photos/import/201810/1618/1740/cce78caf-95af-427b-af51-8aad42aa0da3.jpg?w=800&h=600 and https://tdrvehicles.azureedge.net/photos/import/201810/1618/1740/13ce31ee-8175-46ce-bab1-1b53a298b448.jpg?w=800&h=600. It's to the right of the day/night button and left of open/tilt. No AVM == no camera button.

Bose stereo will have the Bose logos on the front door speakers and a Bose subwoofer module in the trunk. http://sfbayleafs.org/commentary/2013/09/2013-vs-2011-nissan-leaf-whats-new-whats-gone-whats-changed/ has premium (Bose and Around View Monitor). https://tdrvehicles.azureedge.net/photos/import/201810/1618/1740/46817ed8-cb4b-4083-8343-1b60d0b8cc91.jpg?w=800&h=600 looks like it has the cargo organizer kit which may be covering the Bose module. I've never had that kit, so I don't know.

97 km means NOTHING.

From Leaf Spy, if it's not down 1 capacity bar, it's getting close to losing 1, given the SOH.

I think you are confusing the capacity bars for the current charge bars. You need to look at the "outside" bars, rather than the "inner" ones. It's unlikely to be down 3 capacity bars already.

Inner shows the state of charge of the battery, it has nothing to do with overall battery capacity. So, as you drive the LEAF, the inner bars will drop as the battery charge state drops. In LEAFSPY, this corresponds to the SOC metric

The outer bars represent the total capacity, or health, of the battery pack. There are 12 bars in total. The first bar will drop when the SOH, reported by LeafSpy, is around 85%. Each bar drop thereafter occurs when the SOH drops another 7.5%

I should have photographed the dash, and forgot. Damn.

From memory, I think it was down 3 bars. Sounds like a lemon, eh?

Not a lemon, just more used. It is not a new car. It is used. In the Pacific coast climate, a 2014 will lose about 2% of capacity a year/19000km with ideal care. Most cars don't get ideal care, of course. So the best case for a 2014 was about 8% loss, or 92% true SOH. More common might be 88% or 90%. Instead, this one is at about 86%, or about 14% loss. The car is less valuable. Think of the battery as being at least a year or two years older than 2014, maybe a bit more. If priced right and you like the rest of the car, I'd suggest buying it. Assuming it has not yet lost a capacity bar, the dealership needs to drop the price for you to be interested. If it has lost a capacity bar, subtract more. This picture shows a three bar loser. I very much doubt if there are three missing capacity bars on this car.

The range estimate varies based on how the car was last driven. Drive up a steep grade, you might have 10km of range or less with a half full a new battery. It would be slightly amusing to charge the car to full at the summit, and see if the car would show 20km range with a full battery. I'd suggest against trying that, regenerative braking prevents brake overheating and wear on a steep descent. Range on a full charge is only slightly meaningful if you drive the car the same everyday. There will be variation with seasons...

Yes. And if is down one bar, the true SOH (not the LeafSpy reading of the BMS's estimate=86%) is below 85%.

I'm looking at the Premium package car tonight. It's got 2013 maps. Is there any way to get updated maps without having to go through Nissan? Am I right in assuming that updated maps go on an SD card in the left slot?

I'm not certain, but I think the second slot is used to save data from the Nav system. It may also be used to copy data from the update card to the system, where it gets written to the first card. I don't remember for sure.
