Does Leaf Spy work on EV’s other than the Leaf? Is there an equivalent for other EV’s?

Hi,

I have Leaf Spy Pro. I would like to know if it will work to check the battery health on other EV manufacturers? If “No”, is there an equivalent for other EV manufacturers?

I searched the forums and didn’t find an answer.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I believe it might work on the e-NV200 minivan, but that's not shipping in the US. I'm pretty sure it works on the Venucia e30 (https://insideevs.com/dongfeng-nissan-launches-venucia-e30-electric-vehicle-china/), but also n/a in the US.

I wouldn't be surprised if it works on the Chinese Sylphy EV: https://newsroom.nissan-global.com/releases/release-ed7b0014763a42e1693c5c954e1b7e81-180827-01-e.

There is TM Spy for Teslas: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/helpful-links-to-tm-spy-threads.71717/.

Forget about using Leaf Spy on anything non-Nissan. Turbo3 + other folks here and elsewhere did a lot of reverse engineering to figure things out. How other automakers do things is very different. I think https://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=17470 helped.

Thanks for this information. Is there another product to test battery health on used EV’s that are commonly sold in the USA?

No idea. Leaf Spy doesn't "test" battery health. It merely renders traffic on the CAN bus and I guess can make queries and render the responses.

http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=497564#p497564 has some historical posts about the origins of SOH and Hx in Leaf Spy. http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=14285&p=516444&hilit=nissan+meaning#p516444 has a reply from Turbo3, author of Leaf Spy

You can only hope there are similar enthusiasts for the EV/PHEV you're interested in, that they've written an app and that the data can be retrieved by some method.
