Can an OEM backup camera be added to a 2011 Leaf?

I have the 2011 Leaf without the backup camera.

I have studied this thread, http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=10107&hilit in which the author installed an OEM camera in what I think was a 2012 or 2013 Leaf.

Rather than revive that thread, I decided to ask my questions in a new posting.

So, will the procedure work set forth in the above thread work for the 2011 Leaf using the same OEM parts? If anyone had done this successfully, I would appreciate your comments.

It couldn't have been a 2013. The OP of that thread was in 2012. No 2013 Leafs were shipping yet.

Why? In many cases, it makes sense to continue in that thread. And some folks (e.g. one of the mods like at http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=223568#p223568 and http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=8359) get annoyed when people start new threads for no reason. I agree w/them, in most cases.

Sorry about that, if I'm the one that made you feel that way.

It is a real problem that there are too many new threads started though. It would get out of control if (for instance), each person started a thread each they lost a capacity bar, hence the need for merging.

Instead, we prefer massively long threads like this beast (I think it's the longest) at http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=8802, at 763 pages, so far.

For the really long threads, I'd like really long pages--so on could skim more quickly and search by word on the page.

On topic, I can see why you'd want the camera. I have it, and at first, thought, that's dumb, and then I realized I was being dumb. The blind spots with the rear headrest in are huge, and with little kids possibly wandering around, and people in a text fugue state in parking lots, I've grown to really appreciate the camera.

Was the backup camera a option in the 2011 ? It came with the car new and I really love the camera ....
