Ghosn: We are getting there on making LEAF profitable

This has been argued for some time, and there was a Nissan exec from a couple of years back who claimed that the LEAF was profitable at the time, so this 'straight from the horse's mouth' seems important, via ABG:

"We are getting there [to Leaf profitability]," Ghosn told Automotive News. "Are we amortizing and depreciating everything we have spent? No. But if you look at margin of profit – the direct cost of the car and the revenue of the car – we are getting into positive, which is good for this technology."

I think the MSRP for the 2012 Leaf SL was $38k including the destination fee... :?

The MSRP price drop happened, plus the $3500 rebate and 0% financing are also effectively cutting the price.
